Chapter 22~

Time flew by and before you knew it, the dreaded day had come to pass. As morning woke you continued to get ready for school while also trying to avoid both Hatori and Akito. You slipped on your shoes ready to make a sketchy exit before you hear a slight cough behind you. You jump out of your skin at the sudden noise only to see Hatori standing there, sturdy as ever. "Y/n. I'll be escorting you to school today so please come and have breakfast, it's not healthy to skip meals like you do." You sighed and gave in without hesitation. After all, he was just going to show up unannounced anyway even if you did manage to escape his clutches now.

You return to the kitchen on the be greeted by an unusually pleasant Akito. It was obvious he was excited about today. We quickly ate what Hatori served and half-hearted listening to Akito's wild expectations of the day before we set off for what you can only describe as a disaster waiting to happen.

We were met at the school by Yuki's seemingly distressed mother, who instantly bowed her head when she noticed Akito. We stopped by for a second greeting her, she seemed nervous to be in our presence which wasn't at all odd as everyone outside the zodiac animals were deeply respectful to the head of the family. She told us about what had just occurred inside, leaving out major details so not to upset Akito of course. "So he's here." Akito spat out in disgust. "Ayame always seems to attract unwanted attention. Showing his face here might seem a bit of an issue. No matter, as long as he stays out of my way he's free to do what he pleases though it shall not affect the Sohma name." He resumed. And with that, you set off.

When you reached the inside of the school, it was almost as if the atmosphere had completely changed. A foreign sinister sensation had arisen and the zodiacs (momiji, Yuki, Hatsuharu and kyo: including Tohru who was also there) seemed fearful of this sudden intrusion. As if this wasn't already bad enough, a menacing thought struck you, 'what if seeing me here with Akito makes me lose the others trust? Will I have to put in all that effort again just to gain it back? God dammit! Why didn't I think of this before letting Akito tag along!?' Ayame, who was also gathered with the others, broke the fond silence with his oh-so-sickening charm, "Hatori," he danced towards us, "what a lovely day to see you. And hello Akito, i didn't think this scenery was really your preference but still a pleasure to have you join us." Akito hissed at him before moving his way swiftly towards Yuki. Akito ram his fingers across Yuki's jaw, "hello again, Yuki. I saw your mother outside. You know, it's really impolite to make a woman cry." His eyes filled with evil as his words hung like a rat caught in a trap. "Y/n," Hatori chirped up, saving everyone from the moment that was about to take place. "What time is your meeting?" You shyly responded, "uh- it's at-" you were interrupted by your teacher who had also witnessed the events taking place now, although no one noticed her presence, "it's actually right now, y/n." She smiled. "Ah, well then Akito, we should get going." Akito, still staring deep into Yuki's eyes, smiled and hummed in response before diligently walking towards the room with you two quickly following behind. As you pass, you stare briefly at Haru, your eyes telepathically apologising for all of this. He seemed to understand because all he did next was smile and say under his breath, "good luck in there y/n, I'll be rooting for you." Which instantly put your mind at ease. Haru always knew the right things to say in a situation, he was truly a kind person.

Some time had passed and you were halfway through your meeting, Akito was just staring aimlessly out the window irritated and bored out of his mind while you were silently playing with a pencil and Hatori did most of the talking. The teacher seemed to be abit flustered by Hatori's presence which made you chuckle slightly, it was obvious they had met before but you couldn't put your finger on how or where. Everything's was going well until Akito stood up declaring that he was going for a stroll outside, then turning to Hatori and asking," you can deal with things here easily enough, can't you?" Hatori nodded in response and Akito took off heading for the school yard. Today was an off-time-table day therefore that was allowed and students outside of club activities could leave early after there meeting. Unfortunately for Yuki, he was student council so it seemed he would end up having a run in with Akito again.

The meeting carried on and you weren't really paying attention until the one moment you were praying would come to pass aroused.
"So y/n, what do you want to do when you leave school?"
