*EDITED*

Luke was currently laying in his bed, staring blankly up at the ceiling. He was starting fresh at a new school. New people. Luke wasn't used to having to be around new people since he's never been to a different school before so it was a bit terrifying to him. He didn't know what to expect. But if he kept up his act and tried to be like everyone else, then maybe he wouldn't get targeted and maybe it wouldn't be a repeat of what happened last time. But anything could happen.

He rolled over and checked the time on his alarm clock which read 7:15 AM. Seeing as though he had to get up in 15 minutes anyway, he pulled back the covers and stood from his double bed. He walked down the hallway and into the kitchen, seeing his mother drinking water and reading from a magazine. Luke's family didn't have a lot of money so they only had a one story house.

With three kids in the house, Liz struggled to feed them from week to week and sometimes Luke had to go without. He rolled his eyes when Liz didn't acknowledge him. He grabbed a bowl from the cupboard and some cereal then went over to the fridge to grab out the milk but instantly frowned when seeing it expired two days ago. He slammed the milk on the counter making Liz jump and face him with a worried expression.

"Luke," Liz warned.

"The milk is expired. Again." Luke shook his head in disbelief, while searching around the kitchen for something else to make for breakfast.

"I'm sorry. I-" Liz started.

"You don't have any money. Yeah, you tell me that every day." Luke snapped, making Liz flinch.

"I can't even remember the last time I ate." Luke sighed, seeing that there was no bread to even make one slice of toast.

"I promise, as soon as I get paid I'll-"

"Don't." Luke scoffed. "Don't make promises you can't keep." He chucked the carton of milk in the trash and walked back into his room.

He walked over to his closet and pulled out a pair of faded black skinny jeans and a grey shirt. He sniffed it to see if it smelt clean and luckily it did so he pulled it over his head and grabbed his almost empty deodorant can and sprayed himself. He put on socks and slipped on his torn up pair of black vans then went into the bathroom down the hall. He brushed his hair, not bothering to style it since he didn't have any one to impress anyway. Just as he was brushing his teeth, he heard a slight knock on the door.

"I'll be done in a minute." He tried to say, but since his mouth was full of tooth paste and saliva it was barely audible.

"I need to pee now." He heard a small voice say and recognised it to be Jack's.

"I'm sure you can wait."

"N- No. I can't hold it." Before Luke knew it, the door was being pushed open and when he turned around he saw Jack racing towards the toilet with his (barely there) ding dong sprung out. Luke moved out of the way just in time otherwise he definitely would have gotten pissed on. Jack let out a sigh of relief and Luke quickly finished brushing his teeth and let Jack have a piss in peace.

Luke went back to his room to pack his bag and then went into Jack and Ben's room to see if they were getting ready. When he saw that they were dressed and had their bags on their backs he was relieved. He didn't really feel like being late on the first day.

"Let's go, I don't wanna be late on the first day." Luke said, dragging them both out the door.

"Can't we have breakfast first?" Ben asked and Luke almost lost it right then and there. He hated the fact that his brothers couldn't eat because they had no food in the house.
