I walked in the auditorium. The rows of seats were empty. The performers were getting set up from the top of show.
They have been practicing on this talent show for about a couple weeks now. Day after day, just perfecting their own arts.I've been coming here just to do homework and relax. It's a free show and they don't even know I'm here.
I make my way to the back row, while tracing my fingers along the smooth silk surface of the chairs. At our Highschool the things they care most about is academics, sports, and our auditorium. They have put a lot of money into its foundation.
The show was almost over. Only a couple performers left. I never usually pay attention to the last ones, but today I felt interested to watch.
Two boys, probably around 17, my age walked onto the stage. One of them I have seen in my classes before, but I never caught his name.
He had blonde hair, spiked up, he wore tan pants with a white nike shirt. He was cute and had the most beautiful blue eyes. The other guy walked over to the microphone and adjusted its size so it fit his height. He was tall, muscular, he had brown hair also spiked up a little bit. He tapped on the mic to make sure it was working before speaking.
"Testing.. Alright it works man lets do it" he directed his attention from his friend back to the rows of chairs.
He had a deep voice, it fit him well. He was wearing a muscle tee, with dark jeans. He jaw clinched before he spoke.
"Our names are Jack and Jack..
Haha wow, what a coincidence.
"And we will be singing, Right Where You Are by ourselves actually."
He chuckled at the end and nodded to Jack as the music started playing.I was memorized in their performance, but mostly the dark haired Jack. He had such an amazing voice along with the other Jack which had amazing rapping skills. They performed like they owned the stage. They belonged on the stage. I wish I could have that kind of confidence.
They finished up their song. They both congratulated one another. Then left the stage. I was so silent, but I felt so determined. I wanted to be able to sing like I had power. I needed to act like I had confidence.
I got up from my seat, bringing my stuff with me. I walked up to the stage and set my stuff down on the ground making sure my notebook and phone was where I could see them on top of my bookbag. I walked up the steps and stepped on the stage. It felt amazing to be the only one up there. I looked around making sure their was no one around. I went to where I could plug in my phone so I could have the background music. Pretty sure those boys left so I wouldn't have to worry about anyone hearing me.
I stepped up to the microphone stand.
I took a deep breath in, and exhaled.
"Come on Kelsey you can do this" I mumbled softly to myself.
I started singing #Icanteven one of my favorite songs. It had so much emotions mixed into the song. It also had a rapping part in it, which I memorized the lyrics to. I finished the last of the lyrics and let a huge breath out. That felt amazing.
"I can't even believe that I just did that" you spoke so softly to yourself.
"Wow you're amazing" someone spoke behind me.
I turned around to see the dark haired Jack standing there with a shocked expression on his face.
"Oh umm, uhh thanks." I said giving a slight smile but then realizing that he had been probably listening to me the whole time.
"Were you listening to me the whole time?" I say freaking out a little bit.
He must of noticed my nervousness.
"Ya but you're great, why didn't you try to get in the talent show?"
Oh lord, questions. I knew I shouldn't have done this.
"Uhh.. I don't know, I didn't want to do it in front of all those people that are going to be there" I said fiddling with my fingers.
"It's not that bad, I mean It a lot easier when you have your friends and family out there supporting you." He said giving a shrug and a smile.
He doesn't even know that I don't have any friends or barely any family.
I started to feel sick just thinking about what kind of situation that would feel to be in.
He must have noticed my paleness because his expression turned from happy to worried in a matter of seconds.
"Hey are you alright?" He asked moving towards me.
"Uhh ya I'm... Fine, I just need to get home. I should even be here right now"
I said while moving away from him a grabbing all my stuff quickly. I hurried down the aisle.
"But wait, what's your nam-" I didn't answer or even hear the rest of that sentence before busting through the doors and heading to my car.Way to not be noticed.
