Hinata's POV
Nearly a week has passed. A hot Monday morning, as it's the middle of summer. Fanning myself lightly, awaiting Kakashi-sensei for homeroom and as usual Naruto enters in last. It's clear that he was feeling the heat, seeing two of his top buttons undone and tie loosened. As his top is untucked from his pants, watching him closely as he walked towards me. He pulls at his shirt back and forth due to the heat, biting my lower lip lightly--
"Oi."
My eyes widened, as Naruto waved his hand in front of my face to catch my attention.
"O-Oh sorry... Good morning Naruto-san.." I greet back, he chuckled lightly going to his seat. Folding my arms, hiding my face quickly at my boldness at staring so intensely as he entered. Shaking my head as I keep in any groans or squeals that were to escape out of embarrassment. 'But I couldn't help it.. This heat must be getting to me.. It's just...' My mind drifts, peaking to the side. Looking at the two undone buttons, seeing more of his neck and clavicle. Usually it's just the collar that's undone but the second is more revealing, and having his sleeves rolled up 'NO!' Bring my eyes to the desk again, thinking it not appropriate to be looking at Naruto in such a way.
Hearing his voice, speaking to Sakura and occasionally Sasuke who chimes in to correct Naruto or insult him. Giggling at their little frenemy relationship that developed. Noticing Naruto had become a little better acquainted with everyone, though he still leaned more towards me, which I preferred to be completely honest. But even this realization made me feel embarrassed, feeling a bit too possessive. These strange feelings held for Naruto did not dissipate, in fact, the time spent together with my friends, along with our tutoring only deepened it.
Sitting up finally, hearing Kakashi enter the classroom.
Wanting to get know Naruto even more, despite the tutoring and hanging out with the others. I never got to learn much about him. And that's the one thing I wanted most, glancing over at him, was to learn more about him.
Author's POV
A free period, though its usually considered a study period. However, they had gotten back their scores from a test on Friday. Needless to say everyone had taken the free period to heart, chatting and discussing their scores. Naruto placing his paper face-down, hiding the score as he sighs.
"N-Naruto-san..?" Hinata calls "Hmm?" He responds looking at her. Holding up her paper, covering her lips, tapping it lightly, hiding her score too "How did you do...?" She asks, treading lightly, not wanting to display any high expectations. But from experience in tutoring him, even if it was only about four days, she still thought he would pass the test well. Naruto sighed, shrugging lightly, Hinata's eyes widened a little in surprise. Expecting a pass on this test, especially since it counted somewhat.
Hinata gets up slowly "I-It's okay, Naruto-san..." She says, trying to reassure him. Naruto just looked at her slightly confused "I'm sorry I-I couldn't have been of more help to y-you..." She bowed a little, apologising.
"Hey what's going on?" Kiba asks, seeing Hinata bow to the blonde. Kiba still didn't trust Naruto, but he would be friendly for Hinata's sake. "Don't tell me you failed again~?" He assumes in an almost mocking tone. Which Hinata did not appreciate, looking down, feeling a little worse. Thinking she's failed as Naruto's tutor. Sakura hears Kiba and joins them "Making fun of other people's scores again huh? You must've gotten a pretty high score to be so cocky." Sakura gives Kiba a side eye, causing him to retreat slightly "N-No.. Just figured..." He states wearily.
"Don't you trust Hinata-chan, huh?" Naruto questions Kiba, who merely clicks his tongue at the small smile the blonde gave him "Hinata-chan, what's your test score?" Naruto asks, Hinata looked at the blonde surprised. She had been hiding her score so as not to discourage him, but now he asked her, so she felt she had to now. Turning her paper, displaying the score '44/50'. "That's a great score Hinata-chan!" Kiba encourages, Sakura also congratulates her, clapping happily. While Sakura's score being one of the highest, along with Shikamaru and a few other top students in the class.
"You really are smart, Hinata-chan~" Naruto compliments too, smiling lightly, standing up slowly. Hinata looks down shyly, nodding her in appreciating their notice of her score, until she felt a light thud on her head. Looking up, seeing Naruto give her a small chop of the head "That's for thinking I failed--" He states, raising his paper, revealing his test '44/50', just like Hinata's. Her eyes widened, so did Sakura and Kiba's, despite the surprise, Hinata sighed in relief. "B-But... You made it seem like you didn't pass.." She says, remembering his reaction to her question. Naruto merely chuckled mischievously at his little prank, Hinata giggled in turn but hit him lightly on his chest for making her worry.
Kiba still stood, shocked "What?! How?! You got more than me...?"He admits, Sakura merely smirked and laughed at Kiba "See, you should've trusted in Hinata-chan's tutoring, she's a great teacher." Naruto says, giving Hinata a small head pat.
She fidgeted a little, nodding her head again "Th-Thank you Naruto-san... But you got the work r-rather quickly so... teaching you was not that difficult." Hinata says, trying to stay composed as his hand on laid on her head, which slowly changed to him playing with her hair "Good job." Naruto compliments Hinata again, confusing Sakura and Kiba, removing his hand now. His little remedy for her stutters slowly beginning to show results, but it's difficult for Hinata since he told her that he'd be spontaneous with the intimate gestures. Which too Hinata, made their physical contact seem less special, however it still got her worked up.
"See Kiba, I'm not stupid after all." Naruto states plainly, looking at Kiba, as he sits down.
Kiba's brown eyebrows pulled down together, feeling he lost this battle "So you did get in because of your grades." Sakura adds "Guess you were right Hinata-chan~" She says, nudging the Hyuga playfully. Naruto looks to Hinata "You had that much confidence in me huh?" Asks with a small smirk, the lavender eyed Hyuga nodded her head and smiled shyly.
"But that's only half true--" The blonde states, resting his chin on his hand. The three looked confused "Apparently he's an old friend of the Headmistress, so she allowed me to enroll as long as my grades were good enough." He finishes explaining. 'He? Naruto's Father or-?' Hinata wondered "Huh, an old friend of Headmistress Tsunade." Sakura thinks out loud.
"But, that doesn't really matter."
Naruto adds quickly, cutting off any further discussing on the matter. It wasn't overly blunt or offensive, but it made Hinata realize how much she still needs to learn about Naruto. And not by learning through the questions asked by Sakura, no, she wants to ask her own questions. To learn things only she would know, which again makes her feel embarrassed at these rather forward desires. They all spoke for a bit, before Sakura decided to go and talk with Sasuke. Kiba getting called over by another group, as he reluctantly left the two alone. Hinata sitting in the vacant chair in front of Naruto. It was quiet, they sometimes shared in this silence, it wasn't loud or awkward. Rather, it was comforting, Naruto looked out the window while Hinata to her test paper, with the occasional stolen glances toward the blonde. Until she finally realized something.
"Um.. Naruto-san..." She calls softly, Naruto turned to face her "Yeah?" He answers.
"Does this mean that...? Y-You no longer need me as your tutor?" She asks, feeling a little sullen at the thought. That they wouldn't be able to have that quality alone time in the library, even if it was just them studying work "Yes, definitely--" Her heart sunk at his quick response "O-Oh-"Now it'll just be two friends hanging out and studying." He finishes off. Her eyes widened at his words, that sinking feeling soon disappearing, her heart fluttering instead. Overjoyed to hear those words "R-Really..?" She questions, needing reassurance, glad to know that he did not feel obligated to spend time together solely for passing the test.
He nods his head "Yeah. I mean, you know I don't need to be tutored now that you've help catch me up on the work I've missed. And we won't need to study every single day either--" He explains, his index finger poking her cheek. Tilting his head slightly as he smirks "Unless you like role playing as my teacher~" He teases. Gripping her paper firmly, crumpling it in the end, heat washing over her face as she did not know how to respond. Shaking her head, denying her desire to play 'teacher'. Naruto laughs at her reaction, always enjoying them.
"You're too easy to tease Hinata-chan~"
