"Harry!"
Shadow ran forward and threw her arms around Harry, followed by Hermione.
"We're finally getting you out of here for-"
"YOU!" Harry pointed his wand at the doorway, where Bellatrix was standing.
"Simmer down, Potter, I'm here to help." Bellatrix sighed.
"Here to help!? Have you all lost your minds!?" Harry shouted. Tonks walked forward and lowered Harry's wand arm.
"Trust me Harry, she really is here to help." Harry's jaw dropped as he looked between Tonks and Bellatrix.
"Wait, isn't she your aunt?" Harry asked.
"Well, yes, but I also have some exciting news of my own. Remus and I got married."
"Now, now, there'll be time for a cozy catch up later." Moody interrupted, pushing to the front of the group. "Potter, we need some of your hairs."
"No! I'm not going to let you put yourselves in danger for me!" Harry protested.
"Like it's a first time for all of us." Fred said sarcastically. While Harry was distracted, Hermione came up behind him and pulled out a few of his hairs, dropping them in the flask of polyjuice potion. Shadow, Hermione, Ron, George, Fred, Fleur, and Mundungus all lined up and each took a sip of polyjuice potion. Shadow hadn't felt like this since she polyjuiced into Pansy Parkinson in her second year. She hadn't missed the horrible feeling that her insides were boiling. When she next looked up, she was surrounded by seven Harrys. Or at least, she was as far as she could tell. Harry's eyesight was terrible and she couldn't quite tell. Once they were all changed, Moody paired them up.
"Harry, you'll be with Hagrid on the motorbike. The death eaters would expect you to be on a broomstick with an auror. Hermione, you'll be with Kingsley on a thestral. Ron, you'll be with Tonks on brooms. Shadow, you'll be with Bellatrix on a thestral. George-"
"I'm not George, I'm Fred."
"Fred, then."
"Only joking, I am George."
"Enough of that! You'll be with Remus on brooms. Fred, or George, or whoever you are, you'll be with Arthur on brooms. Fleur-"
"I'm taking Fleur on a thestral." Bill said. "She's not fond of brooms."
"Fine then. Dung, you're with me. We're taking brooms. Everyone ready?" They all nodded before filing outside. Bellatrix mounted a thestral before helping Shadow up behind her.
"I've never seen a thestral before this summer." Shadow said, stroking the thestral.
"Ugh, that is so weird. Your voice coming out of Potter's body." Bellatrix shuddered. Shadow laughed.
"If you think that's strange, you should try being in someone else's body." she threw back.
"All right. We're all leaving at the same time, or the whole point of the diversion is lost. We take off in three, two, one, now!" The thestral took off at lightning speed. Bellatrix shrieked and grabbed the thestral around the neck.
"Mum, have you seriously never ridden a thestral before?" Shadow asked, trying not to laugh.
"So what if I haven't?" Bellatrix said, trying to sound dignified. Shadow started to laugh, but she was cut short when a shadow passed by them. She reached for her wand. Another shadow passed them. The third shadow flew straight at them. Shadow had to duck a killing curse.
"You filthy traitor! I'll kill you!" Bellatrix gasped. Shadow knew that voice. It was Rodolphus. He shot another killing curse at them. The thestral sped up. Shadow tried to stun Rodolphus, but he dodged it. They lost Rudolphus by flying through a cloud. When they came out on the other side, they saw Lupin and a Harry who was George being followed by Snape and an unknown death eater. They watched as Snape pointed his wand at George's back. Bellatrix reacted immediately.
"Sectumsempra!" Snape hissed. Bellatrix managed to deflect the spell, but it didn't completely miss George. Shadow watched as if in slow motion as the spell shot by George's head and sliced his ear neatly off. Shadow wanted to scream, but she knew better. Screaming would give away their position. Snape turned on his broom. His eyes widened as he saw Bellatrix on the thestral. He turned and flew away. They somehow managed to avoid any other death eaters and got to the safehouse quickly. Once they landed, Bellatrix turned to Shadow.
"So, who's house is this anyway?" Shadow froze. She had completely forgotten to warn Bellatrix about where they were going.
"Um....I guess you're about to find out." They headed inside. They entered the sitting room and Bellatrix stopped dead. Shadow stepped around her and, sure enough, saw Andromeda standing on the other side of the sitting room.
"Bellatrix...? What...what in Merlin's name are you doing here?" there was a long silence.
"Well...it's a bit of a long story....but....well....I kind of.... savedmydaughterfrombeingkilledbythedarklordandabandonedthedeatheatersandjoinedtheorderofthephoenix." she took a deep breath. "So...that's what I've been up to." Andromeda put her hand to her mouth.
"You really did it? You left the death eaters?" Bellatrix nodded. Andromeda let out a sob and threw her arms around Bellatrix.
"You have no idea how much I've missed you, Bella." she cried
"I refused to admit it, but I really missed you too." Shadow felt a bit awkward. She noticed a man enter the room and edged around her mother and aunt toward the man.
"Well, it looks like I wasn't fast enough to warn her about Bellatrix." Shadow was very confused. The man, who was probably Ted Tonks, must have noticed, because he quickly explained.
"Dora sent advance word that Bellatrix was going to be coming, but I just got her owl not two minutes ago, so I didn't have time to tell Andromeda."
"Dora?" Shadow laughed. "Does Tonks know that you call her Dora?"
"Yes, and she hates it, but that's what parents are for. To embarrass you." he laughed. "But anyway, you must be Shadow. Dora's told me about you."
"Um, yes, I am." Shadow said, a bit flattered that Tonks had told her parents about her. Behind them, Bellatrix and Andromeda had separated and were facing the portkeys.
"It looks like your portkey left without you. You'll have to take the next one with Remus and George." Andromeda said. Bellatrix and Shadow exchanged a concerned look.
"Um, George might be-" Shadow was cut off by the sound of the door opening. Lupin rushed in, supporting George. Blood covered the side of his head. Andromeda's hand flew to her mouth.
"Oh my god! You'd better take the portkey right away. Molly ought to see that and get it fixed before he loses too much blood." She turned to Bellatrix and hugged her again.
"I'll see you soon, Bella." Then, to Shadow's surprise, Andromeda hugged her too.
"I'm so glad I finally got to meet you, Shadow." she stepped back, and they took the portkey to the burrow. When they arrived, Lupin rushed inside with George, followed by Bellatrix and Shadow. Lupin laid George on the couch. Mrs. Weasley was already kneeling by him. Ginny looked stunned.
"What happened?" Mrs. Weasley asked.
"Snape used a curse on him. It would've hit him full on if Bellatrix hadn't been there. She tried to deflect it, but it still got his ear." Lupin explained. Mrs. Weasley sobbed and gave George another hug. She stood up and turned to Bellatrix.
"I never thought I'd see the day. First you heal the Longbottoms, then you save my son's life. If that's not enough reasons to trust you, I don't know what is." she said, then, to everyone's amazement, she gave Bellatrix a quick hug before returning to George. Bellatrix looked stunned. Shadow turned when she heard footsteps outside. She raced out, followed by Ginny, and saw Harry and Hagrid. Shadow threw her arms around Harry, and when she looked back, she saw Ginny looking dark.
"Calm yourself, Ginny. I just gave him a hug." Ginny turned scarlet, and Shadow turned to Hagrid to greet him.
