England stood on the cliff overlooking the lush green valley below, marveling at the tall castles in the background and the spacious land surrounding them. The scenery before her was right out of a period novel."The gray and white castle in the back belongs to the King." The deep voice of the Lycan beside her made England drop her gaze to the valley below the cliff. The smile on her face began to fade. The question of how she would get down started to penetrate her thoughts.
As if he had read her mind, and he had, Kano moved closer to her body from behind and lowered his lips to her right ear. "Beautiful, isn't it? The only problem is getting from here to there without breaking a leg."
The Lycan Alpha smiled at the Vampire and then leaped from the cliff. England watched him land below without injury. He then began walking away toward the castles in the background. England turned around into Kano's body because he was close to her. She stumbled backward towards the edge of the cliff threatening to fall over, but the Vampire's left arm wrapped around her waist and secured her footing. England grabbed onto Kano's clothing and stared up at the expressionless face of the creature that had saved her from injury.
"Are you sure that there aren't any stairs around here?"
A smirk crossed the night lord's lips. "There are no stairs around here,"
England's feet slid across the thick green grass as he pulled her closer to his body. His dark eyes seemed to glow the closer she came to him. She tried to break eye contact with him but found that impossible. Even the coolness from his skin permeating through his shirt did not take her attention from Kano's stare.
Kano walked towards the cliff's edge with his female pressed firmly against his body and then stepped over it.
Etan walked through the thick green forest of trees and vines cautiously. He felt eyes on him. The smell of King Vallen's beasts roaming there made the Lycan lord pause in his mission to see the Immortal. Why were they so far from their home?
A growl emitted from Etan. "I can smell you, creature."
The creature's growl answered Etan. The Lycan lord snarled in response. "I can find you and rip you apart. Velarris, your body may disappear, but your stench does not. Your disobedience will bring your death."
Silence filled the air, and then the shadow beast materialized and pressed its body to the ground in a show of submission.
Rebekah lifted a low-hanging branch and stepped into the clearing where Etan stood growling.
"Etan," Her smile filled her beautiful face.
The lycan looked over at her for just a moment and then returned his attention to the shadow beast. "Why is it growling at me?"
Rebekah glared at Valerris, and he stopped growling and ran away. "I am sorry. He does not know you too well and is afraid of you."
"Then he needs to stay away from me and stop going unseen."
He was a lot different than he was at the Gathering. He was not one to laugh or be soft. Rebekah wondered if Kano was the same. These two were always together, so her father said. King Vallen knew that these two were friendly to each other. An alliance between them could mean death for the house of Vallen.
Rebekah nervously looked up at the powerful Alpha and nodded. He frowned at her. "Why are you out here in this dark place."
"My father trained me. So I am not helpless."
Etan growled at her reply." "Why are you out here in this dark place?"
Rebekah stepped back from the approaching creature. "I always come out here. Father knows that I am here and sends Valerris with me. I mean no harm."
