As was custom, whenever a gathering was called every House lord or Alpha would meet at Tour de Voyous, the Rogue Tower; dressed in their ancestor's garb. Some did not mind the return to the old ways, but the younger members found it restricting and heavy.
Eli tugged on the tight jacket as he pulled it down for the tenth time. "How could anyone wear this jacket; these clothes are too tight."
"Maybe you should eat less," Ash answered with a smile. Kano chuckled at his little brother's fake smile at Ash.
The three brothers walked into the old Great Hall entrance as fellow vampires greeted them. "I hear that Owen and his clan will be here."
Kano frowned at the news from his brother Ash as they walked down the long black carpeted aisle. "It is a shame that we cannot attack him here. We gave our blood and the witches. They will not hesitate to punish us if we break the rules."
Eli looked towards the twelve witches sitting in the chairs at the end of the Great Hall. They never spoke to anyone but Vanessa, the Immortal. They would not tolerate anyone breaking the rules, so why was Owen allowed to continue his rebellion.
Ash shook his head at his older brother. "Vallen is weak why do we continue to abide by his laws. You know that we should be killing these humans not seeing to their safety from others of our kind."
"This is Vallen's law. He has many allies, and not all of them are vampires or are visible to us. Those shadow beasts that, that bitch sorceress Milanda blessed him with have killed many at his command. Until we have secured more allies, Vallen will remain law."
Eli nodded as he continued pulling on his jacket. Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted the Alpha Etan with fifteen of his clan walking towards them. Kano turned to see the grumpy Lycan in the long black duster.
"I thought that you just wore tight pants with no shirts to show off your strength with no regard for intelligence," Ash commented.
Leo sneered at the vampire. "Rembly reminded us of our clothing era."
The old grey haired Lycan in question smiled as he walked past his Alpha and the rest of his pact. He proudly displayed his long black duster as mischievous imps began flying under it and throwing it over his head. Eli watched the werewolf swat at the little devil as he continued towards his seat. The vampire chuckled and began pulling on his jacket's sleeve. "I always liked Rembly."
The rest of the pact growled at Eli. Kano diverted his attention to Etan as he looked around the grand hall. Witches, vampires, sorcerers, shapeshifters, trolls, ogres, Lycan, imps, and shadow beasts but no Vallen to be seen or heard.
"He does not attend the Gathering Lycan."
Etan turned his attention to Kano, and his deep voice filled the vampire's ears. "Yet we are called and come, but he does not."
