slow days

It's one of those days guys.

Ah, it's the same person again... Soraru thought to himself, pouring warm coffee into the small mug.

His gaze slowly moved towards the left side of the store. An albino shifted his guitar, looking out the window. The rain drizzled down steadily as the busy world moved past in a blur.

He gently strummed his guitar, blending in with the aesthetic nature of the cafe.  As his gentle music started, the cafe itself seemed to quiet down. The soft murmurs stopped, all paying attention to the lofi.

"It's a slow day today." His music seemed to whisper.

Several hours passed by quickly, people left, people walked in, and he stayed there, just playing his soft music.

He looks sad, lonely.

Carmine eyes met sapphire ones.

The albino smiled vaguely, his music coming to a stop.

___

Days passed, perhaps weeks, every day was in this fashion, the monotone colors, the muffled whispers. And he never got the courage, to speak up, to say something to the forlong expression.

___

"Black coffee please." The albino muttered.

The raven looked surprised. He stared at the albino boy, almost dropping the cup he was cleaning. "Y-yes?"

"Black. Black coffee." He muttered. "Black like my soul."

The last part was barely audible, and Soraru could barely catch it.

This was the first time he had heard his voice. His voice was soothing, tranquil. Mid-ranged perhaps, not too high, not too low.

___

"What is it?" The albino took the cup in his hands, lifting it to his mouth.

"You looked lonely," Soraru said, sitting down and looking out the window. "If you don't mind?"

The albino merely placed his mug back down and took out his guitar.

"It's another slow day, huh?" Soraru looked at the boy who started to pluck the strings of his guitar.

___

Weeks passed, months passed and before long, it was February. February the 14th.

"You know, today's Valentine's day."

"Hmm..." The albino said, taking out his guitar.

"Here something for you," Soraru said, placing down a small cake, and a pink smoothie.

"I didn't order this?"

"Happy Valentine's day, a change from the black coffee, hm?"

"It's fine I-"

"A thank you for always playing music in my cafe?"

"It--"

Before the albino could finish, Soraru stuffed a piece of cake in his mouth.

"What do you think?"

"It's... good."

"That's good to hear."

"How much is it?"

"What's your name?"

"...Mafu..."

"Such a cute name for such a cute face." Soraru teased.

The albino's face turned red and he turned his face away.

Soraru chuckled. "It's free, thanks for telling your name... Mafu..."

Today the world, maybe for just a little, seemed a little bit brighter.

___

"Oh, you stayed?"

"Yeah... thanks for the cake.... it is good..." Mafu said, swinging his guitar case, slipping it over his shoulder, and kicking a nearby pebble.

"Happy Valentine's day."

"A-"

Before Soraru could finish Mafu had run off.

___

The next day, the day after that and the day after that day passed, and still the albino did not come back.

Soraru took out a small crumpled piece of paper.

xxx-xxx-xxxx

He dialed the number and waited.

The phone ringed about 3 times before it was picked up.

"Hello, this is the residence of Mafumafu, who is this?"

"A-ah," what was he supposed to say? "It's a friend...."

The other side went quiet.

"Is there something wrong?"

"Well... you see... Mafu... was found..."

"...yes?" he swallowed the rising bile in this throat.

"Mr. Mafumafu had passed away due to disease."

The words I love you, which never got to be said, could not be said to you anymore.

Perhaps, that night, if I had whispered "I love you" you would have stayed with me?

I love you, Mafumafu.

Ah, but it is already too late.
