Orion
I am at my party that River organized and Brit hasn't left me alone since Dad told her she was becoming Luna today. I am not having a great time considering my mate isn't with me. Not my true mate anyway. I am currently standing with River when I smell her scene. Coconut and strawberries. I wish I could smell that scent forever, but in just an hour, it will be gone forever.
"Orion? Are you excited to be Alpha?" Cali asks.
"Yeah, I guess."
"You are still missing her, aren't you?" Cali asks, annoyed. She thinks that Noctis doesn't deserve me.
"I still think there is more to this story with Noctis. Something doesn't add up. She is a nice person for the most part, I just don't understand why she would passive aggressively reject you."
I just walk away from the group and tell Brit to give me a few minutes alone. She pouts but I give her a look that could kill. She just nods and looks for one of her friends. I subconsciously find Noctis, but she doesn't look good. She is sitting on the floor in the corner with tears in her eyes. I am about to walk up to her when Mom beats me to it. They talk for a moment before walking out of the room. I walk around some more before seeing Xander.
"Hey Xander, how's it going?"
"Good, how are you?"
"I'm alright. How's Noctis?"
"She's fine. I don't know how much longer she will be here though. She isn't ready for crowds. I'm not sure why she came in the first place."
I nod and turn to Altor, "Altor, nice to see you again," I smile.
"You too Orion. Congratulations on the Alpha title."
"Thank you Altor."
The two start back up with their conversation they were having before I showed up. It is about the war Xander and Noctis were in.
"You wouldn't believe it Altor. I was seriously forty feet from the explosion. I can't believe how luck I am to be here."
"By the sounds of it, Noctis is more lucky than you."
"Yeah, we thought we lost her when we saw her go down. Damn rogues."
"Was this that explosion with the silver?" I ask the two.
"Yeah, it was pretty touch and go for a bit. Luckily they had a werewolf doc there and the fact that she is the daughter of...." Xander slaps his hand over Altor's mouth and Xander shakes his head.
"I thought she was an orphan," I say.
"Yeah, I meant her foster parents. They taught her to be strong and that is why she held on so long," Altor corrects himself, but I can tell he is lying.
I go to ask him to tell me the truth, but Dad interrupts me. He is standing on the stage at one end of the room. I walk over and climb the stairs to stand next to him and Brit stands next to me.
"I am glad to be handing down my title to my son today and having his chosen mate named Luna." Cheers and claps erupt from the crowd and I see Brit smiling like an idiot. "Orion Star, do you take this position as Alpha. Do you swear to protect this pack with your life and never abandon them? Do you swear to put the best interests of the pack above your own?"
"I, Orion Star, accept all the responsibilities that come with being Alpha."
Dad turns to Brit, "Brit Perm, do you take this position as Alpha. Do you swear to protect this pack with your life and never abandon them? Do you swear to put the best interests of the pack above your own?"
