Dream fluttered his eyes, vision partially blocked out by the hard mask resting haphazardly on his face. A damp warmth squeezed at the tips of his fingers and he groaned at the welcome touch.

There was a shuffle and Dream's ears cleared enough to hear faint voices, though he couldn't make them out. The hell am I... he asked himself, trying to sit up.

Someone shushed him and Dream gasped at a pressure on his chest pushing him back down. "Lay still," the female voice hushed, clear and soft. It held an accent that Dream couldn't easily recognize, but his hands were too numb to reach up and adjust his mask so he could see.

As he laid down, warm hands rubbed something warm over his bare chest, and Dream relished in the feeling. He'd been out in the cold for months, alone, and now there was someone helping him and giving him warmth. It was truly a welcome feeling, and Dream closed his eyes, focusing on his breaths. He was able to make them longer and deeper than he had when he was out in the Storm.

"W...wa..." Dream tried to speak, but his mouth was dry as sand. He attempted again, but to no avail.

The voice spoke softly, "you want more?"

Fingers lifted the mask so Dream's mouth was the only thing seen, and with the help of the strangers hands holding him upright, cold water flushed into his mouth, clear and fresh. Dream grunted in approval and the water trickled to a stop. His mask was pulled back down and he was returned to the ground.

"Mm." Was all he could say as a thank you, but the stranger returned with a "you're welcome"

When Dream woke up again, he was able to sit up on his own and he readjusted his mask so he could finally see around him. He was in a cave who's walls were lit up with bright torches and near him a fire crackled warmly. It's heat was sent in waves across his body and he outstretched his hands, wanting to feel more warmth.

Then there was the stranger. "No," she said, "don't. Your fingers could burn with the frostbite." Dream was finally able to see the face that belonged to the voice he'd been hearing. The woman was short and small, her blonde hair cut to her shoulders. She had bright bluish green eyes that were wide and full of hope, and Dream noticed her fair skin, apparent that she too hadn't seen sun in a very long time.

Dream managed to choke out the first words he'd spoken in weeks. "I'm sorry..." he rasped, his vocal cords shredding his throat like razors.

She smiled and nodded, handing him a glass. Dream turned away from her and lifted his mask to easily take a sip. When he was done, he returned the mask and returned the empty cup to her. "I'm Niki."

Dream nodded slowly. "Dream."

"You had a dream?" She asked, confused.

Dream shook his head and tried again. "N-name."

Sh smiled and nodded. "It's nice to meet you, Dream." He nodded and she helped him to his feet. It was hard work at first, but he managed to stay balanced as he turned around to inspect the cave.

Sat around a second fire were a couple more people and Dream couldn't help but feel excited at the sight. One by one, they stood up, shaking Dream's hand and introducing themselves.

One of them was named Tommy, and his friend was named Tubbo. Tubbo was substantially shorter than Tommy, who measured about my height, but they both looked around the same age. The third man introduced himself as Technoblade.

Technoblade.

"Wait..." Dream said, trying to make out the face behind boar mask of the man standing in front of him. "Techno?"
