it was summer. where the sun stays out until 7 p.m, a nice breeze passes by every few minutes, and bonfires with your friends on the beach.

kenma and nana sat back as they watched the rest of the boys play some volleyball on the beach. the sun was setting behind them, making the sky filled with different colors.

"this reminds me when we were in la," nana laughs, tucking her legs up to her chest.

"hey nana, can i ask you something?"

"hm? what's up?"

"you mentioned that you used to play volleyball, did you quit or something?"

nana let out a small hum, drinking her water. "yeah, i did, but i quit for selfish reasons,"

"selfish?" kenma repeats, "how were they selfish?"

"i cared more about what people thought of me than volleyball itself," she says. "so it led to me quitting," as nana was saying this, kenma noticed her eyes shifting to rin, making him even more curious than he already was.

the boys notice that it was getting late, so they decided to stop playing and head over to where kenma and nana were sitting.

as the sun sets, they started the bonfire and started to gather around it. the crackling of the wood burning and smell of ashes gave off a really comforting feeling.

kuroo let out a sigh, "it's been almost a year,"

lev laughs, "can't believe a year went by so fast,"

"mhm, felt like yesterday when kuroo sent kenma a collab request," nana says, drinking some of her mountain dew.

"oh please," kenma scoffs, "i was going to ignore his message because it looked like a letter,"

"hey!" kuroo protest, "in my defense, i was trying to be polite,"

suga rolls his eyes dramatically, "ugh we get it, you two are in LOVE,"

"suga, don't be so mad," iwaizumi laughs, shifting his body closer to oikawa.

"okay since no one is point it out," rin starts, "why the fuck does kai have a hickey on her neck?"

nana flipped her brother off. "mind your own fucking business, rin."

"rin, just admit you're mad cause you don't have a boyfriend or girlfriend," kenma teased.

"maybe i fucking AM, kenmakgames,"

"sheesh, not you bringing out the username," daichi laughs.

they all laughed at rin, saying he should just get back into hook up culture or something. as the sun began to disappear, the air became colder.

everyone was cuddle up around the bonfire, blankets wrapped around their bodies. kenma stared at the fire in front of him, eyes following the smoke that disappears in the night sky.

"you guys ever think that in a few years, we won't be doing this?" akaashi asks.

oikawa nods his head, "we've been doing this for years now, it feel weird to think about how someday, we're all going to be old and wrinkled; living in retirement."

"funny, isn't it? we're really just normal people, a normal group of friends," nana says, eyes glistening. "it's our jobs that's abnormal,"

terushima laughs, agreeing with his girlfriend. "and in two years, iwaizumi and oikawa are going to be getting married,"
