THE TITAN GAMES (under editing)

District 12 (updated)

The sun shined through a broken window and hit me in the eyes. I groaned and moved my blanket to cover my eyes, but decided that it would be best to go get food for dinner. A celebration dinner after the stress that comes with a day like today.

As I got up I saw my mother and father still sleeping soundly thus I took extra care not to make a noise.I crept to my wardrobe and opened it to see the clothes I had laid out from last night.

Once I was done changing i made my way down stairs and slipped on my boots for todays hunting trip.

As I walked outside the house and into the dirt and grime of distract twelve I walked over to the electric fence that is meant to keep the dangerous animals out, but in reality its only purpose was to keep us in.

I checked to see if the fence was on, but these days the fence is never on anymore. It's more of a habit. Then anything else.

The capital claims that the fence is powered and always on, but any wise person could see through a blatant lie.

I climbed under the fence and made my way at over to a hollowed out tree with my knife and bow in it. I took them and unwrapped them from the cloth that I had surrounding to protect from bugs and moisture.

I grabbed my arrows from the tree as well and started my walk to a spot where I knew would have some game on its land.
After two hours of hunting, fishing and gathering up strawberries, blueberries and roots. I sat down on a cliff face and drank from my water skin.

The yellow and orange rays of the sun went so well with the trees. They made the shadows and tell a tail that I couldn't understand, but could enjoy. The breeze played a song my ears could pick up and the warmth from the sun gave my love I wouldn't ever fully appreciate or understand, but not all peaceful things can last forever. I stood and began the long walk back to the "safety" of district twelve.

I made my way throw the streets of district twelve. My feet had memorized the path to the hob. An underground black market inside an old coal factory.

As i entered I made my way through all the days trading a Turkey I caught for cheap bread, but saving the squirrels I had shot for the baker.

I came to the place I loved the most here. Greasy Sae. She makes the soup in the hob and is one of my most generous customer.

"Good morning. Eren." She welcomed. "Good morning Ms. Sae." I said back and sat down at her table. "One bowl of hot stew please." I ordered and she placed a wooden brown and spoon on the table from her pot of soup. I handed her a rabbit that she asked for last time I was here. "So school and everything's going okay." She asked me as she skinned the rabbit. "Yeah. It's pretty boring though." I commented back and she nodded and let me finish my food in comfortable silence.

"Thank you for the food." I said as I got up and walked to my last stop of the day.

I head to the mayor house to sell the strawberries. The major loves them and pays handsomely for them, but I think he's just being generous.

As I round the corner. I see Annie already there with a super nice dear pelt in her hand.

"Hey Eren." She says in her normal bored voice, but I heard a little happiness in her greeting. "Hey Annie." I said as I walked toward her

"Why are you here?" I ask. She held up the perfect deer pelt. "Woah. Nice kill." I said as I ran my hand over the perfect pelt. "Pretty sweet. The bastard didn't hear or see me coming." She said smiling like a little kid. She doesn't smile often, but when she does it brightens up my day.

"What are you selling?" She asked and I showed her the strawberries and she took one and ate it. "Heyyy." I said as she chewed faster and Then the door opened and we saw a blonde haired girl with blue eyes standing in front of us.

Her name is Madge and she is the daughter of the mayor. "Oh hello Eren, Annie here's your money and Eren let me get you yours. That's a pound right?" "Yeah it is." "Okay I'll be right back." She said then closed the door with the pelt in hand.

Annie placed the money in her pocket and looked quite happy. "what are you wearing to the reaping?" She asked me. "A black suit." I responded. "You?" I asked her. "An all black dress curtesy of my mom." She said back. "But don't worry. Ill still be the one to rate your outfit." She commented.

Every year since I've known Annie. She has rated my outfits and always gives me low scores. I laughed "it's just gonna be another three or four." "Yeah well you always show up in jeans and shirts but this year. Your actual wearing a suit." She said with her usual sass. "Very funny." I said as I rubbed the back of my neck in embarrassment. Then my mind began to think about what year it was and what it meant for the winners

"Who do you think are going to become the new female and attack Titan?" I asked her. Her face slightly scrunched up as she began to give it some thought.

"Well. I'd say the first or second district. They've trained their whole lives to win the titans. Zeke got lucky and since Pieck was the only other person alive. It made sense to give the titans to them so they wouldn't have to wait another year and risk losing the cart Titan." She said as the gears in her head kept working.

Zeke was my brother,but since we weren't full sibling the only person who 
moved to victors village had been his mother.

Last year Zeke and a girl from district eleven named Pieck had won off pure luck. Pieck would be dead right now, but they let her live because the needed a new warrior for the cart Titan.

As we talked Madge opened the door.
I took the money in her hand and handed her the strawberries and she closed the door. "We'll see you in an hour for reaping." I said and Annie signed. "Soon you in an hour." She said started to walk away.

As I made my way inside my house I noticed a pot of hot water was filled up and my dad was dressed in a white dress shirt and black pants. My mom was dressed in a blue dress and was putting up her hair. "Your hot water is ready for you." My dad said and I nodded and took the water into the bathroom and started to clean myself

After I was done I slipped into my suit. Dad then walked up behind me and started to Comb my hair and I just sat there and let it happen.

After we sat down at the kitchen table and tired to eat but I was full and my parents were nervous recks.

Then the time came when we got up and started to walk the middle of the district twelve

As we got there I saw Annie and walked up to her to greet her. But before I got a word out she looked me up and down. "You scored a six" and then for the first in years I smiled.

I noticed a faint blush on Annies face 'cute" I thought as the women of the hour walked onto stage. Effie Trinket.

Effie walked up to to the stage and stood at the podium and saw "WELCOME EVERYONE." She said in a bubbly tone. "Today is the day of the reaping. I hope you enjoyed your day so far because it's about to get better. Now I will start the drawing of the names.

As all Ways ladies first." She said and picked the first name out of the ball and read it out loud. "Annie leanhart."
