~FIVE~
Kai heaved out a sigh.
Sometimes, you can't help but feel that family gatherings are such a drag. Some relatives would be interviewing you about your personal lives and will always ask you questions such as "Do you have a girlfriend?", "When are you getting married?", etc. They won't even believe you if you said you have none. So, what's the point of asking?
You will also hear this redundant phrases such as "You were only a baby back then, but now you've grown up!" or "You were only this small but now, you're so tall." and even "You're only a kid when I last saw you a few years ago."
Shouldn't it be a given that a person grows old as time passes by?
They cannot throw a party later since tommorow is the start of school so they decided to have a lunch banquet instead. And all throughout the lunch banquet for his cousin's birthday, he only wore a business smile.
Reaching his destination, he stopped the car and took the paperbag that was placed at the backseat. Once he had it, he opened the car door, went inside the building, took the elevator, stood infront of the apartment, pressed the doorbell, then waited for a few minutes until someone open it.
He was currently infront of Sarang's dorm. He promised her that he will give her back the game console that he borrowed from her last week. After a minute when no one answered yet, he rung the bell again for two more times. Seconds later, a voice spoke through the monitor.
"Who is this?"
"It's me Kai," he answered, his eyes furrowed thinking that the female voice seems different than that of Sarang's usual voice.
"What's your business here?"
Did Sarang just ask her what his business here is? "Uh, it is you who said I should come today."
"Are you Sarang's friend?"
He knew right then that it wasn't really Sarang who spoke. He replied, "Yes. I'm close friends with Sarang. I promised her that I'll drop by today. I came to give her back the game console I borrowed."
A few seconds of silence went by before he heared the clicking sound of the door opening. A head abruptly popped out of it wearing a face unfamiliar to Kai. For a second, he thought that he might have knocked at the wrong apartment.
"Hi, come on in," she invited.
She opened the door wider and waited for him to get in before closing the door herself. "Have a seat. Sarang's currently out to buy a few things at the convenient store. She'll be here any moment now."
"I see. Thank you." He took off his coat before taking a seat, placing it beside him.
He watched the lady as she went to the kitchen and opened the fridge. She took out a box of juice, poured some on a glass, then placed it back to the fridge. She slowly walked towards the living room where Kai is then placed the glass of juice on the table infront of him.
"Staring is rude."
Kai immediately snapped out of his own thought, immediately realising how he intently stared at her unintentionally.
"I'm sorry," he apologized. "I was just wondering who you might be and why you're in Sarang's apartment alone."
"I'm Yoon HyeIn, Sarang's cousin."
His mouth formed into an "O" upon remembering the time when Sarang informed them that her cousin would be living with her for awhile. So this is the cousin she is talking about.
