After about an hour and half of driving, he pulled the car into the narrower road. A large white fence stood firmly in front of us. "We're here." He said as he stopped the car, unbuckled the seatbelt.
"Where are we?" I can't see anything but fence.
"Stay. Just wait and see." He smirked and got out of the car. I frowned and smiled to him. Hmm, interesting. There's a chain rounded in the middle of the fence with a big padlock on it. Raymond has a bit of a problem with that, but since he asked me to stay, so I tried to comply. Even though I obviously want to get off of the car to help him.
It took him about ten minutes to finally opened the fence, then get back into the car. "Sorry for waiting so long. That's a ..."
"Darn padlock?"
He giggled and agreed with me, "Yeah, kind of." The car moved forward into the wider yard. There are lot of trees lined up on one side, their leaves swaying in the wind. Not only that, but there are also several plants that are neatly arranged with small yellow and white flowers.
He parked his car on the paved road in front of the cabin. Looks like wood was deliberately chosen by the owner to be the dominant thing here. The original color of the wood was left alone, making everything look fabulous.
"You're not going to tell me whose place it is, are you?" I said as he turned the engine off.
He looked at me with pursed lips, then smiled and said, "Nope." He got off of the car. "Are you here in forever or what?" his head suddenly popped up through the window. It's not that I don't want to get out of the car, but I just feel uncomfortable in my outfit. What if it was his house, and his parents or other family members were waiting inside? That would be a disaster. On the other hand, my thoughts are like, who am I? Why would he takes me to his house? I am nobody for him. I mean, I'm not that special or anything. That's just impossible, isn't it? I took a deep breath and decided to follow him.
He was standing near the house, patiently waiting for me to get out of the car and walk towards him. In a moment, I thought he was going to ask me to come inside the cabin, but no. He didn't. A bit of relief inside, and I continued to follow his pace curiously.
I could feel the different air when we passed the cabin a few meters away. It's more windy, warmer, and brighter.
My mouth fell open when I saw the beautiful scene in front of me. This is crazy. I've never been to a place like this before. It's kind of a large lawn with a lake nearby. I hear nothing but birdsong here. I stepped closer into the lake, and say, "Oh my gosh. Raymond, where are we? Is this real?"
"You like it?" I'm sure behind his sunglasses he checked on my amaze expression by this view.
"Are you kidding me? This is fantastic!" and why does he keep asking about whether I like it or not for things that everyone obviously likes?
"I'm glad you like it." I've heard that before, Ray. "Hey, Brie. What do you think about that?" he said as he moved closer to me then pointed on the rowboat that is not far from us.
"What? The rowboat?"
"Another one."
I squinted to find out what he just meant. But I can't find it. "What is it?"
He smiled then started to walk towards something that he meant to, "Come on, follow me."
"Okay, since when did I not follow you today, Mr. Bale?" I shrugged then walked after him. "Jet-skis? Wow!" that's what I saw when we approached near the rowboat. This place has completely amazed me. We can totally relax here. Just having fun and forget everything about the town's crowdedness.
