Chapter 6: A Fellow Shade

Luke and I made it to the forest. 

"You trust me correct?" I stopped. 

Luke hesitated before replying, "I do." 

A forceful gush of wind blew my hair out of proportion. I raised my hand and heat radiated from it. A slew of fire blasted out and set a tree aflame. Luke was sitting on a rock near a lake. Through powers of geokinesis, the rock floated in the air and splashed in the lake water, getting Luke all wet. 

"You did that on purpose!" He whined. "Payback time." 

He wrapped his muscly arms around me, all the water soaking me. 

"Dammit Luke! I hate you!" I shrieked. 

"No, you love me." He replied, staring dreamily into me. 

"Um, I'm having second thoughts about that." I teased him. 

"Ok, you asked for it." He leaned in, his lips brushing mine. 

"Fuck it! Just kiss me already." I asked, getting lost in his hazel orbs. 

Our lips inched closer, but a low, faint growl resonated near us. 

"Lupine." I gasped and turned around to see a horde of lupines surrounding us. 

"Vampire, these are lupine grounds. We will attack if you stay for trepassing." The leader growled. 

"I take it that the lupines and vampires still have loose ends to be tied?" 

"Skye, run! I'll take them, I'm strong enough." 

A gush of wind blew past us, the trees began to stand still. 

"Luke, we need to go now!" I tugged on his arm. 

"Yeah listen to your girlfriend who I admit is looking hot today." A lupine eyed me up and down. 

Luke was fuming, but I placed my hand against his chest to stop him. "Let's just go." 

As soon as we entered the quiet suburban area, Luke turned to face me. 

"Why didn't you let me take them?" He yelled at me. 

"I didn't want to see you getting hurt. It's getting late, I'll see you tomorrow perhaps?" I started walking down the block.

"Wait! Come to mine?" He gave me the puppy eyes.

"Fine. Let's go." I intertwined my hand with his.
