'What did you do?!' I turn around with my sword ready to attack. Emirah and Ginia are staring with fear and anger at Abigail. Her sword is wet from the liquid. She broke some of the bottles! 'What the hell?! Abigail?' I shout is disbelief. Only one bottle remaining. Marcus arrives back to the entrance of the Cornucopia and looks confused. He looks at Abigail and she runs away without hesitation. Surprisingly enough he doesn't make any attempts to chase her and neither do Jayden or I. 'Marcus?' Augustus asks him unsure. 'Did you took the cure?' His eyes become big and he looks at the only bottle left on the platform. 'Did you?' I ask him. He nods. 'Jayden?' He nods. He's safe! Suddenly Emirah steps towards the platform and chaos breaks out. Marcus and Ginia both jump to the bottle as well and I pull Jayden back without a warning. I won't let him die because he gets stuck into their fight. Marcus pulls Emirah away and Ginia sees her chance to grab the small bottle. I reach for my axe and I throw it at her with so much power that her cannon sounds before her body reaches the ground. She's dead! Augustus grabs the cure and puts it in his jacket. 'Aah!' I turn around once more and see an arrow in Emirah's back. Jayden shot her! He saved Marcus! She holds on to the Cornucopia and Jayden shoots another arrow at her, but this time to her neck and a few seconds later her body falls to the ground and her cannon sounds. 'The cure! Quick, give it to me!' Marcus shouts in anger, fear and despair. Augustus reaches into his jacket and gives the cure to Marcus without hesitation. He drinks it within seconds and the timer on his arm disappears. We're all safe. 'What the hell is this for morning!' He shouts and sits down on a rock. He's right, what a way to wake up. I try to remember how many tributes are still alive. 30 dead, 18 still alive. 'Where is Lara?' 'What?' I asks confused. 'Where is Lara?' Jayden asks me again. I look around and don't see her. Oh no. Boom! 'Crap.' I say. Then the Anthem starts to play. 'It isn't midnight yet.' Augustus says. I ignore his stupid comment and look at the sky. The portraits of Emirah, Ginia and Lara are shown. 'Maybe it is for the better not to split up yet.' Augustus says carefully. He's right, if we split now we will be a target. And I don't want that at all cost. 'I agree, we are stronger together.' I say with confidence. I get up and take search their back packs. Besides for the food, which isn't much, there is nothing useful. We throw the weapons in the waterholes to make the area around the Cornucopia even deadlier. And after we are sure that there is nobody else in the area we can kill we move on to the south, which is the direction Abigail ran too. There are still 18 people alive. A number that I would like to reduce to 2, as soon as possible. After an hour of walking we hear a cannon go of. Boom! 'Well, the other tributes are finally doing something.' Marcus says with sarcasm. I roll with my eyes and look around. Maybe it was close. We hear the Hovercraft entering the arena. We can't see it because of the trees but the sound is getting weaker. 'It isn't going our way.' That makes it easy. If the other tributes are going to attack each other, then we can save our strength. 17 people alive, 15 more to kill. We don't go to the place of the kill because it is too far away so we walk further. Everybody is quiet, and I know why. Nobody wants to miss anything. Every kill we can make is one kill closer to home. And if we don't concentrate we'll be vulnerable to attacks and ambushes. 'We're going to slow.' I say with a tense voice. 'You're right, we should run, but not too fast of course.' Marcus replies. Boom! 'Listen to the Hovercraft.' Jayden shouts. Once again the Hovercraft is flying to the far north, but it isn't the same place as the last kill. 'Let's go to that direction and see if we can catch this one. I'm curious to see who is going on a killing spree.' Marcus says with a very low voice. He seems tired, really tired. When was the last time he had a good nap? Maybe our Sponsors can finally do their thing. We haven't received any Sponsor gifts yet, which is strange. After an hour of running we cannot find any tributes so we take a break. Ping, ping, ping, ping, ping. 'What is that?' I look up and see four parachutes flying towards us. 'Yes! Sponsor gifts. Finally!' They land on an open spot and we run straight towards them. I take the two with the number 12 on it and sit down. 'What's in it?' 'Easy, brother. Have patience.' I turn it around and see a digital lock. "Look down at your greatest weapon" It says. A riddle, great. I look annoyed. Jayden taps on my arm. I look at it and see a code. I look amazed, they are genius. Using the trackers in our arm as a communication device. Genius. I look at the code and enter it. The box it neither big nor small. A small piece of paper falls out the second I open it. "T" This is my box. I look inside and see an iron bottle with a lightning bolt on it. I turn it around and see a note. "Eliminates pain for five minutes" That's useful. Very useful. There is another thing inside the box. A smaller box, classic. I open it and see another note. "Night vision lenses" What, really? Night vision lenses? 'Jayden. Show me what you got.' I say. He shows me the inside of his box and I nod at him. We have the same things. I look around and see Marcus and Augustus sitting separate. So the first signs of splitting up are here. A sign that the end of the Games is near. Nobody makes any attempts to tell each other what we got, so we put the things in our bag and move on. Marcus and Augustus walk in front so that gives me a chance to talk to Jayden. 'How are you?' 'Good, just tired.' I nod. I'm getting tired too. A lot has happened within just a few days. We walk in the direction the Hovercraft flew to in an attempt to find this savage. We walk for the rest of the day without any success. Nobody dies for the rest of the day which is a sign that the killer isn't finding any more tributes, so we walk to the opposite side of the arena. 'We should set up camp.' I suggest. 'Yeah, good idea. It's getting dark.' Marcus replies, again with a soft voice. 'Are you sure you aren't just tired Marcus?' I say with a neutral voice. 'Is there anything you want to say Thomas?' He asks me with a strong voice. 'No, you just sound tired.' I reply casually. He steps towards me but Augustus holds him back. 'Leave it Marcus, spear your energy.' He hasn't got the energy for this. Marcus looks angry at me and sits down. We agree that Marcus and I will take the first watch and Jayden and Augustus the second one. That's because we can't trust each other. I bend myself towards the fire and put my night vision lenses in so Marcus can't see what I'm doing. It is just not possible that he has received the item as Jayden and I. Or at least, I hope so. Because otherwise, our chances of winning have decreased dramatically in the last few minutes. We survive the night without any trouble but when we are eating our "breakfast", a cannon sounds. Boom! Only 15 alive. We see the Hovercraft flying towards the other side of the arena so we ignore it and prepare for the day. Day 5, let's go. 'Let's hope we can find some tributes today so we can give a show and go home as soon as possible.' I say optimistic. We walk in a random direction in the hope we find someone. And with success. After less than an hour we see a fire with someone lying next to it. We sneak without making a sound and I ready my axe. It is quiet, too quiet to my comfort. Then I hear a branch breaking ten feet to my right. 'It's a trap!' I shout as hard as I possibly can. Suddenly all hell breaks loose. The girl lying next to the fire stands up tries to attack me with a self made spear but her body falls to the ground within seconds. Two girls and two boys are coming from both sides and we dodge the first attack. I throw my axe at the girl who is charging at me again and it hits her in the chest before she can reach me. I hear screams behind me and I see Augustus with a spear trough his chest. Oh, crap! He falls to the ground and everything is silent. Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! Boom! 'He's dead.' Marcus says with a soft voice. He seems angry. 'Marcus.' I try to say. 'He is dead!' He shouts at me, but this time with a very strong voice. 'I promised to protect him! I promised to bring him home! And now he's dead!' I walk slowly backwards. He's losing it. I ready my sword and see out of the corner of my eye that Jayden is doing the same with his bow. I expect him to attack but he lets go of his sword and falls to his knees. Was Augustus so special to him? Then he gets up again and starts searching the bodies. He doesn't hold any more weapon so I let go of my sword and do the same. The boy from 4 and the boy from 5, the girl from 3, the girl from 5, the girl from 6 and Augustus. 6 people dead in a matter of seconds. 9 people alive, 7 more to kill. They have no food on them, which is a problem because we don't have any food left. We'll have to kill some wild boars if we want to eat tonight. The upcoming days will be difficult and hard. Definitely if Marcus is going insane. He is still useful and a good friend. I simply cannot kill him, yet. That's a wast of power. Power that is a little bit out of control, and that's dangerous. After we've checked every body we move on. I hope that we find some more tributes today, maybe Abigail or Tobias Zamba. I'm not sure who died yesterday because they didn't showed the portraits last night. Probably an other twist of the Games. Another sign that the Games are coming to an end. And I'm counting down. 'Marcus?' I ask him while walking. 'Yes?' 'Are you ok?' He nods with an absent look. He clearly doesn't want to talk so I walk in front of him until we hear a loud scream. 'Left!' Marcus shouts. The female voice shouts again. Marcus and Jayden don't hesitate and run straight to the sound. I run behind them while looking to all sides. I don't want to get ambushed, again. I ready my axe to attack after seeing Jayden ready his bow. We run to the side of an open field and see five tributes standing around an other tribute. She is the screaming woman. Suddenly I realize. Those are the six other remaining tributes. And they are colluding against us! 'Wait!' I whisper to Jayden and Marcus. 'Who is that girl in the middle?' Marcus tries to look closer. 'That's Abigail!' 'Not so loud!' I whisper to him. 'Are you sure it's her?' Jayden asks with a soft voice. He nods. I try to look closer as well. He's right! But what is she doing? 'Please, I know where they are, I swear! I have no reason lie!' She screams again. 'She is giving them our location! The traitor!' Marcus says angry. 'She doesn't know where we are, she's trying to save her own life.' I reply calm. 'I don't believe her. They probably split up ages ago!' An other tributes says. 'She has no use, let's just kill her.' 'No, please!' She shouts desperately. They all nod in agreement. Now I recognize him! That's Tobias Zamba! He is still alive. Is he the one who killed all the tributes who died yesterday? Or did they hunt together? So many questions. 'What are we going to do?' Jayden asks. 'We'll kill them all! They will pay for what they did!' 'Those tributes are already dead Marcus.' 'Maybe they were working together with this group!' He says in frustration. He is angry, really angry. 'We'll kill them.' I say to him. 'Jayden, aim your bow at them. Marcus, ready your spear. Wait for my command.' I Take one throwing knife in each hand and aim the at the tributes. I take a deep breath. 'Attack.'
