The Beginning of it All

FALLEN

Chapter 1

It's not supposed to happen! Zayn and I are just friends and nothing more. I don't want anything else between us!

I'm getting ahead of myself. Let me start from the beginning..

My name is Alex and I am a girl whose dating Liam Payne. It didn't start out that way though.

About two years ago I went to England and saw One Direction in concert. I had backstage passes so I got to meet them! Agh!!!! As I was touring the area I was texting my BFF, Bryana.

And then it happened.

I ran into what I thought was the most beautiful person in the world. Liam Payne. We looked into each others eyes and I could tell it was love at first sight. All I was thinking about was the way he looked at me with those gorgeous brown eyes.

"Hey," he said, "I'm Liam. And you are?"

"Um..... I'm, um, Alex."

"And I'm Zayn!" Someone from the background said.

"Dude, shut up! Can't you see this is love?!" I'm guessing was Louis.

That made me blush hard.

I quickly looked over to Liam who mouthed meet you at the back door? I nodded my head in agreement and left them alone to talk about what just happened. I pulled out my phone and immediately called Bryana.

"Bry!!!! You'll never guess what happened to me!!! I think I just fell in love with Liam Payne!!! It just happened! I looked into his eyes and we just stopped and I swear it was love at first sight girl!

"omg! I'm so happy! But is cant talk because its like really early here so bye!"

I went to the stage door to wait for what felt at the time my true love. I stood there and waited thinking what I was going to say to Liam. He seemed so shy and cute! I liked that in him and tried to write my number on a paper but my hand was too shaky. Then, I saw him out of the corner oft eye and my heart lept!

"Ok love, we have exactly five minutes until I have to go do the concert. I need to see you again. When?"

As all that came up I instantly froze. Love! He called me love! That's all I could think about when he was talking and then I snapped back onto reality.

"Um well, me and my best friend are living here in England so I can see you tomorrow. I am living in a cheap motel right now while I find work but I'm looking for a place to settle."

His eyes lit up like he expected me to say that sort of thing. "That sounds great my dear. Here is my number. It would make me the happiest in the world if you would call me."

With that a lady with a microphone with Liam on the side told him he had to go. I looked at him as if telling him I love you. I stood by the curtain. The whole concert and left right after with no other word on the matter.

That's the summarized version. You can obviously tell that we met up the next day and he asked me out a few weeks later and we've been dating ever since. The only problem is, Zayn broke up with his girlfriend And I was the one he came to for everything and we are like best friends now. Although no one will ever replace Bryana. Zayn never found another girl. I always thought he was waiting for her to walk up and say I love you but it never happened. Liam and I grew apart as me and Zayn got closer. I guess it just came up on me.

Bryana and I were walking back from getting food for the small house I ended up buying after Liam helped me get a job as an intern for vogue magazine. The boys lived in a three story house next to us of course because it seemed like Niall was going head over heels for Bryana which was perfectly fine from my point of view. But Bryana didn't seem interested in Niall, it seemed to me she liked Liam little.

"I've been thinking about the past few weeks, Alex, she said after a few minutes of silence. "You and Liam don't so much and you do a lot with Zayn. What's up with that?"

I had never really thought of that but it hit me hard like when I'd first met Liam. "Well,". I said. "I don't know but Liam doesn't seem to like me anymore. I think he may break up with me. It's been nagging at me for a while actually." I hated myself for thinking about it but I had a feeling it was coming.

"Well that sucks I know you really like him. It's just I've seen things between the two of you get a little tense so I thought I'd ask that's all." Bry said it with a bit of excitement behind the words.

We walked back in silence and I thought to myself that things have been weird lately but I pushed it aside thinking it would just pass. Boy was I wrong. As I got back to the house I saw that Liam was waiting for me at his house. I acted like I didn't see and went into my house to put the groceries away. After about twenty minutes of relaxation, Bryana and I walked over to the boys house to have dinner and play xbox. As I got there Liam walked up to me and said something I couldn't understand. I knew him so well that it meant that this was not something Bryana couldn't hear. I hold to go and that we'd be in soon and turned to walk to the porch swing where my boyfriend was sitting.

"What's wrong?" I said timidly.

"I love you and you know that right?" He said in a scared way.

"I've known it everyday I have known you Liam. What's wrong? Tell me please."

Liam's expression changes to pure pain and i became terrified.

He said, "When I first met you I was In love and I know that still. But we have been growing apart and I don't like it love. We need to take time for ourselves. I hope you agree?"

My heart skipped a beat like he had just aid what's mind was thinking but couldn't make out. I smiled and that made his face light up like the time he first looked at me. I leaned on and kissed him like I never have before. We linked hands and walking into the house with the smell of Niall making chicken and rice and flirting with Bryana who was so taking a hint. I looked at her and we both laughed. Everyone have us the normal they are coo coo! looks they always did.

We ate a dinner filled with laughs and the occasional remark about how much Liam and I showed we cared. Then, I looked over to see Zayn and Harry talking in a serious way while Zayn looked like he was about to cry. I told Liam I would be right back as I jerked my head in the other two's direction and he squeezed my hand in understanding. I walked over to Zayn and said "Hallway. Now."

Zayn looked at me and hesitated but eventually stood up and walked with me to the hallway. When we stopped I looked at him and he looked like he wanted to cry like a baby which worried me sick.

"Zayn...?" I said softly. I had a feeling he could see I was scared of what he might say. "What's wrong with you right now? You don't usually look this sad ever."

"I just.... I don't know exactly how to put this on any other way. We have gotten closer since I broke up with Chelsea. And I haven't dated anyone else because, well, the girl I'm in love with is in love with someone else. It hurts me bad love."

As the words came out of his mouth I got more and more scared what he was going to say next. And I has every right to be surprised/scared. "Where are you going with this?"

His face turned from true pain to total fear that a little boy got when he thought a monster came through his closet. "I'm in love with you Alex. You're the one for me."
