The path was steep, as the blinding gloom of the night silently perceives. The bright moonlight is the only thing that makes things visible as Diana was making her way back to the village.
It was dark and brusque, but Diana is quite used to sneaking up during the night and returning without her Mother knowing
Upon finally reaching the outposts of her sisters, Diana silently tiptoed through every posts that will hide her from being caught by her sisters guarding the borders
And so after almost fifteen minutes of literally hiding and sneaking, she finally reached her home, but upon opening the door—
A certain Queen was waiting for her with her eyebrow cocked
"Where have you been?"
Diana casually scratched her head, thinking of excuses to say like what she usually does
But suddenly, a realization came to her...
She doesn't need to make an excuse, because she had a rational reason that should be pardoned
"Mother, I—"
She paused immediately upon realizing what she is about to do, exposing the man that had been kind to her earlier
"What was that, dearest?"
Diana gazed unto her mother and was about to utter the words, but was too tired to even explain what happened
"Perhaps, we can discuss this after supper, Diana." The Queen stated upon noticing Diana's worn out expression
And so she led her daughter to the dinner table where a fine feast of a bunch of roasted fishes was served
"I've heard that you haven't eaten all day" The Queen revealed
"Hera, what am I going to do with you..."
Diana beams out a smile as she reaches out for a roasted fish on the table, biting it gently but when she did, she realized something
"It tastes... bland?" Diana thought to herself
The Queen had heard of this and decided to ask her about it
"What was that?"
"Oh nothing at all, Mother" She responded with a quirky big smile
It tasted plain and bland to her, as if she hasn't been feasting on the same delicacy since she had learned how to feast. Perhaps it had something to do with the fishes, or just her taste buds taking a major turn.
And so she decided to ask her Mother about it
"Mother, have we perhaps changed our cook starting today?"
"I haven't heard of such thing, don't you like how the fishes are served?"
"No no, it's just that— I think they can be improved in terms of taste" Diana responded slowly
"A taste like...:
And suddenly, Diana had thought of a bright idea
This will definitely make her more capable in her Mother's eyes
"Mother, Tomorrow I would like to prepare the fishes myself!"
This took the Queen out of nowhere especially knowing that her daughter wasn't really that interested in food preparation of some sort
"Where is this coming from, dearest?" she asked curiously
This would be a great chance for Diana to show her mother what she is capable of, not just some fragile princess of royalty, but a young woman with a lot to contribute
