The pink-haired man blinked slowly as he stared at the tan-colored ceiling that stood above him, his head resting upon his arms as the bed sheets covered his body that night, thinking.

His sapphire-blue eyes were cloudy and distant as old and treasured memories rushed into his mind like a tidal wave, and he found himself constantly fighting back tears. Inhaling and exhaling, the tiny water droplets continued to brim at the corner of his eyes as he covered them, begging himself to keep it in. After one last breath, the tears that had been sitting over the edges finally let up, falling back.

He continued to lie down on the mattress before finally getting up, walking over to the bathroom. There, he stood in front of his mirror that rested above the sink, where he would stare at his own self, waiting for something, but he just didn't quite know what it was that he was waiting for.

And that it was there- it was her again, he could see her in the reflection of his eyes on the mirror, her standing there, her soft gentle smile and long black hair that framed her small, pale face, bright amber eyes that decorated her facial features like gems.

"...Amber?" he whispered, placing a hand on the glass, not daring to blink, fearful that the second he did, the girl would be gone. The girl merely smiled at him in his own reflection, everything about her slightly blue, but her bright amber eyes were still their own color, looking at him through the mirror.

"The reflection of you in my eyes is truly beautiful."

The words, so simple yet so meaningful, rang through his troubled and grieving mind, causing him to gasp in shock as he remembered the letter that she'd written to him that same day, only years ago.

...

Dear Techno,

There was once a man who's lover had committed suicide due to depression, and not long after the death of her, he too fell into the never awakening sleep of death.

There was another woman who's husband died, the news of his death of which she barely blinked at before going off to marry another man.

Now tell me, Technoblade, even though these two couples were married, exchanged the same vows as each other during their weddings, both promising to love each other for the rest of their lives, and yet, their endings were so different.

Call me a coward, if you will, but I've decided, maybe falling in love isn't the cute, wonderful story we all read and heard about as children, and though there are it's ups and downs, I still don't... want to take the risk, I suppose. It's beautiful, but like a rose, it still has its thorns. And I'm too scared to prick my hand on the thorns.

Ah, I truly am a coward.

I hide from little things, I'm too scared, too delicate. It's starting to annoy me, how unbelievably, pathetically helpless I am. It's sad.

But then, you've always been the exception. You probably always will. You were always quite the handsome lad, Techno, just a bit too far on the violent side, you know? I'm too scared to try to sort out the feelings in my chest, maybe you'll have to wait for a bit before I tell you everything. But for now, let's just simply continue on as we always have. Lets' continue having it where you'd come over almost every day for dinner, where the four of us would have the best times of our lives, where we could be free together. But for now, I'll just admire it myself, shall I?

...The reflection of you in my eyes is truly beautiful.

Your friend,
Amber
