THE WALK BACK to the car was peaceful as they walked with their hands laced together.
Y/N's hand held Finn's as her other hand held onto Finn's upper bicep, smiles wide on either of their faces. If it had been up to them, they would have opted to stay at their mountainside spot much longer, but they both knew they had to get back since the sun had gone down already, and they had a forty minute drive ahead of them. But nonetheless, the evening had been special.
It was their first kiss since they were teenagers, and it felt like an otherworldly experience.
They felt like teenagers again. They felt happy.
The stars in the darkening sky above them was nothing compared to the countless stars in their eyes that they held whenever they looked at each other.
And when they reached the Impala, Y/N paused to take the keys out of her pocket, dangling them from her finger before tossing them over to Finn. He caught them midair as he stood by the driver's door, a big grin on his face at the thought of driving his old car again.
He slid into the driver's seat with a content sigh, closing the door at the same time Y/N got into the passenger's seat. He entered the keys into the ignition, twisting it to hear the familiar growling hum of his car coming to life.
Finn laughed, his eyes happy as he leans his head back at the nostalgia of being behind the wheel of his car again. He turned to glance at Y/N with a happy smile before it curled up into a smirk as his hand instinctively went the stick shift, his hand flexing as he shifted it into drive.
He missed his car, that much was obvious. He roared with hoots and hollers as he pressed his foot on the gas. They laughed together, glancing at the other to admire the smiles on their faces in the moment.
The drive back to Long Beach was a joyful ride, the windows rolled down as their hair flew wildly while they laughed together. God, they haven't felt this way—this happy—in years.
