Meet and Greet

Well it's been a month since my new surgeons. All of them are doing great. I had to get on my eye candy, Doctor Carter, about a couple things. I have his number only for the business reasons. Overall , Doctor Evans does good work but she has an attitude that will make me choke her.

Anyway, today I'm checking in on Shawn to see if he is handling his business. I saw him walking down the hallway and he was filling out some paperwork.

"Boo" I grabbed him and he jumped.

"Hey doc."

" Hey, what're you working on?"

"Just patient information"

"Ok well we need to talk so please grab your stuff and follow me."

He did as told and we walked to my office. As we were walking I saw doctor Evans hugged up in a corner with one of my apprentices. He is here for community service for a college assignment.

"JEROME. WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING? COME HERE!"

Jerome walked over to me and I talked to him as quiet as I could.

"You over here getting caked up with a woman five years your senior instead doing what the heck you need to do? Boy I should send you right out of here without your recommendation or your hours. Handle your business and see me after your done with your shift."

"Yes ma'am"

" Doctor Evans"

I turned my attention towards her since she wasn't smart enough to go back to work.

"What do you think you're doing? You have a job to do and you trying to make out with some boy. You are really skating on thin ice and you've only been here for a month. Get your act together or you're fired."

She rolled her eyes and walked away.

Doctor carter and I continued walking to my office and we finally got a chance to be calm and collective.

"Alright Doctor Carter, as you know the hospital isn't doing to good. It's gotten worse. The money isn't helping and we need more or they are going to shut us down. I'm planning on doing a fundraiser and I would like for you and Doctor Jones to join me. Do you accept ?"

" I'm going to be working with you primarily all day?"

"Not all day but for the most part overnight. if that's an issue I can find someone else. I'm not sure if that will fit into your schedule."

"So I get to work with the infamous doctor knowles all night? Who'd be crazy to turn that down."

"Yesss, thank you so much"

We chatted for a minute before the phone rang.

"Hello"

"Yes Marcus"

"I can't take her tonight. You know that."

"Why?"

"Marcus...I know..."

"You never do. I'm surprised she even calls you daddy."

"Whatever being her to the hospital."

"NO......DAMNIT MARCUS."

I sighed and hung up. I sat down and put my hands on the side of my head. Marcus is my daughters father. Yes I have a daughter. Her name is Gabrielle. She is 5 and smart and a little smart sometimes but I love her. I had her when I was 24. I was married to Marcus but now I'm divorced and he gives me hell. He's not a good father and he has sole custody. Apparently with my job constantly demanding me I'm not a suit parent. That's a bullshit reason but I can't fight the job. Although he has sole custody I feel like I do because of the fact that I always have her. He either drops her off unexpectedly or he just leaves her and doesn't come to get her back for another week or so.
