Prologue
“Come on Tori, you’ve got to do this.”
I looked up at Jacob, and he squeezed my hand. He obviously didn’t understand how it felt to have butterflies in your stomach for almost a whole month, and having to fake smile even when you’re walking on the streets. Because people recognize you from advertisements. Even in commercials, they show your face to tell everyone to vote for you. Which really means I have no more privacy, since this is the World Pageant we’re talking about. World.
I couldn’t help but pull my hand away. It was a rude gesture, but he just didn’t distinguish how I felt like. He wasn’t in my position right now, and there’s no way he’d ever enter the Mr. World Pageant. Well, if there was a Mr. World Pageant.
“Tori…” Jacob pleaded. His dark brown eyes bore into mine, and that’s just when I realized how hot this guy was. Those perfect dents on his face from Football, and the little dimples that shone on his face when he smiled were just priceless. I shook my head. The Pageant was starting in two minutes, and I had to leave the curtain pretty soon. I can’t be drooling all over him while I’m going out and being watched by possibly the whole world. And I had to try to win this thing. The money… all of the money would help me.
“I have to go.” I stated, breathing in and out to calm myself. I turned around to face nine more people that were just as worried as I was. We were the best of the world, or well, the prettiest or the world. Unless there were some more undiscovered models out there who didn’t find any interest in the Pageant, like me for example.
But I had to do this. I had no choice. This competition was on my family’s lives.
“Okay. Try to win this thing, will ya?” Jacob asked, a smirk appearing on his face. That smirk calmed me. I let out a heave of sigh, and smiled at him. “I guess I’ll give it a shot.”
He winked at me, and walked away back into the backstage room. I guess the smirk was all I needed.
And that’s when all ten of us jumped because Linquin Popper’s voice echoed from behind the curtains. “Ladies and gentlemen, welcome, the ten beauties of the world!”
I turned around and faced my nine opponents. They gave me a dry smile, and from the corner of my eye, Emily Pepper smirked at me. I gave her a playful look and a smirk too. Then, I turned back around and let the security guard push the curtain open to let me walk through. And I did.

So, this is the Prologue. What do you think? Like I said before, it is very cliche. I'm so sorry ):
ANYWHO, how was it? If you, by any chance, didn't realize that this happens in the future, well, this does happen in the future! And, well, it is completely normal if you have no idea what is going on! xP
This is a short prologue, so you get used to how I write and how I roll (lol). So please comment and tell me how I'm doing! If you don't like how I write, tell me, and I will do my best to change :) Feel free to criticize <--- (is that how you spell it?), compliment, or even say a 'hi, how are you doing' because I WILL REPLY.
