You're Not Like Most Humans

He only came to visit twice between the engagement and the wedding, and they divided their time together between planning at Aprillia and in each other's arms at home. When they did errands in town, people were more assertive about approaching them, sometimes becoming brazen and asking inappropriate questions. Steve didn't tolerate this, and although he never laid a hand on anyone, the guilty parties were quick to make apologies and stay away from the couple from then on.

Ellie was quietly pleased as Steve grew more and more comfortable and skilled with the intimate aspects of their relationship. On his first trip back she got her wish when, after he took a quick shower upon arriving, she had the immense pleasure of watching him walk, naked, up the hall from the bathroom and into the bedroom where she was unpacking his bag.

By the time he reached her side she decided they wouldn't be leaving the house any time soon.

"Please don't get dressed."

One corner of his mouth lifted slightly, "Why not?"

"Because I'd like you to undress me."

"I see. Well, I wouldn't want to disappoint you..."

"You've never done that."

"I'll do my best to keep my average."

Gently, as always, he lifted her shirt over her head and slid her shorts down to the floor. Facing her, he looked over her head and down her back as he unhooked her bra. It fell to the ground as he dropped to one knee and slid his fingers beneath the waistband of her underwear and around to press against the soft, tender flesh where her buttocks met her thighs.

Ellie always marveled at his touch. Firm, but never rough, and always purposeful. He seemed to always consider what might please her and didn't hesitate to ask how to do it better. He lost himself in his own pleasure when the time came, but until he reached the place from which he could only go ahead, he was all hers.

Once she was as naked as he, he picked her up, cupped the back of her neck in one hand, and pulled her mouth to his. His kisses were more assertive as well, and their tongues sparred passionately as their hands explored the landscape of each other's bodies. On that day, Ellie was eager. She pulled him towards the bed, wanting to feel him inside her, soon.

Their passion was strong and quick and when it had reached its conclusion Steve fell onto the bed at her side, one hand on her breast and one leg draped across hers. "Why do people say it's not good like that, fast like that? That was good. So good."

With Steve across the country doing a series of visits as well as scaring a street gang in LA straight, Ellie made a quick overnight trip to compound the week before the wedding to be measured for some gear that would be used during her training. At the front desk she was informed that she now had voice access to home floor. While the convenience was invaluable, she wondered what it meant about her status in the team. She had made it very clear to Tony that no final decisions about her future had been made.

Their new accommodations were ready for her. When combined, Steve's room and the room next door made a spacious suite. A king-size bed would make their nights more comfortable, and there were a small sitting area and desk as well. Ellie found the lack of windows depressing but the view of the river and surrounding countryside from the common area and its balcony was beautiful.

She was given a uniform of sorts: sweats, t-shirts, and a windbreaker all sporting the unmistakable 'A.' Grumbling and frowning, she was measured for a form-fitting one-piece garment covered with pockets and clips and what looked like tiny USB ports that was referred to by the staff as her 'tactical suit.' The material was ultra-lightweight and supple but kept her at a comfortable temperature even when she was exposed to extreme heat and cold. It also provided remarkable protection from bumps and scrapes.

At the end of a long afternoon comprising a session downstairs with Dr. Liszt and an hour with the equipment folks, Ellie took the elevator back up to home floor and headed to the kitchen for a snack before going to her room to clean up.

Coming down the hall, the common space looked empty. The young man at the main desk had said that no one else was scheduled to be there that evening, but it wasn't unusual for team members to arrive unannounced. Ellie had hoped that she might see Bruce; he would be a pleasant companion for an evening. Thor was still very much on her mind and she would have appreciated the chance to read and talk to him more.

Disappointed that she would have no company, she found something to eat and walked out of the kitchen and over to a dining table. Just before she sat, a wry voice she didn't recognize said, from behind her, "Hey, who are you?" She turned her head to see who was there and let out a surprised yelp as she was faced with a chest-high raccoon wearing an orange and black suit.

Regaining her composure almost immediately she held out her hand and said, "I'm sorry, I didn't think anyone else was here tonight. You must be Rocket. I'm Ellie Morris, Steve's fiancée."

Rocket put his paw in her hand, shook it, and smiled. "You're not like most humans. You people usually scream louder and never want to touch me. I guess these days you're getting used to us scary aliens in theory, but face to face can get freaky. How'd you get to come hang out here on your own? I figured that Pepper gal got in because Stark's the king. Are you here because Rogers is the prince?"

"I'm actually here on my own merits. I'm kind of part of the team now. You've been away... in space... haven't you? Did you get your invitation to the wedding? It would be so nice if you could come."

"That's exactly why I'm here. I've never been to an Earth wedding; what will I have to do?

"It's easy. You wear a necktie, sit and feel all sappy during the ceremony, and then you drink and dance – at least once with me - the rest of the night. And eat some cake, too. What do you think?"

"I like the sound of that."

She sensed that he was very lonely, this strange creature from another world, and deeply happy to be having this conversation with her.

"Hey, Rocket..."

"Yeah."

"Did you come here in an honest to goodness spaceship that's been all over the galaxy?"

"I did."

"I know it's not a big deal at all to you, but I can barely wrap my human brain around it. Can we go outside, and will you show it to me, and tell me about some of your adventures?"

"Ellie, babe, nothing would give me more pleasure."
