Chapter 12

"Kagami," Ladybug uttered, her voice shaking a little. "You shouldn't be out here this late." Even if it's technically Kagami's fault that Chat Noir is, well, gone, Ladybug couldn't hate the girl. She was still a victim of Hawkmoth and she knows that if it weren't for that evil man, she wouldn't really reveal to anyone who Chat Noir really is.

The only thing that bothers Ladybug is how Chat Noir was able to reveal his identity to Kagami, but not to her.

"I'm fine. It's my fault that people had to stay indoors as much as possible anyway," Kagami shyly said.

Ladybug frowned. "Stop being hard on yourself." Her voice softened. "It's not your fault," then she offered her hand in front of Kagami. "Here, hold on to me. I'll take you back to your home."

Shaking her head, Kagami answered, "No. . . Don't take me home yet, Ladybug. I still need to talk to you."

"About what? And how did you even know that I'm here."

"Everyone knows you're still secretly doing the night patrols alone. Everyone is worried, but everyone admired you even more at the same time."

"Oh."

There was a long moment of silent. After a while, Kagami sat, her legs dangling in the air. Afraid that the girl might suddenly fall from the tower, Ladybug carefully sat beside her so she'll be able to hold her, just in case she accidentally falls.

"I'm sorry, Ladybug," Kagami sighed. "If only I know how to control —"

"Hey, hey," Ladybug stopped her. "Like I said, don't blame yourself."

"But I'm the one to be blamed!" Kagami said. "If it weren't for me, you wouldn't have to protect Paris on your own. I should have. . . I should have accepted the fact that I don't have anything against you when it comes to his heart. . ."

"Kagami. . ."

Kagami let out a sad smile. "He still loves you. I was only q distraction for his everlasting love for you."

Ladybug couldn't speak. She didn't know what to say. She didn't know how to react. What would the information that Kagami told her do if her Kitty isn't by her side anymore?

Marinette woke up around 11 am. She overslept because she stayed awake at the Eifell Tower until 4 in the morning. Kagami, unexpectedly, stayed with her too. She said that it's the least that she can do for the heroine.

"Good morning, Mum, Dad," she sleepily mumbled as she shows up on their family's bakery.

"Good morning, dear," Sabina answered. "Did you oversleep?"

"Yeah," Marinette replied, her cheeks turning pink. "Can I help you with anything?"

Sabina shook her head, gesturing for Marinette to come upstairs.

"Just go upstairs and do something you'd like. I know it's been stressful a lot lately, and I think it's best that you de-stress, sweetie." Sabina smiled sweetly. "Alya dropped by earlier too. She's asking if you want to sleepover by her house. Your other friends will be there too. Do you want to come?"

"Yeah, sure," Marinette nodded. "I'll go pack my things then."

"Sure, dear. By the way, how's Adrien? Did he contact you or your friends yet?"

Marinette sighed deeply. "Not yet."

As soon as she went back to her room, she started packing. Tikki helped her.

"What are you going to do about Hawkmoth, Marinette?" her kwamii asked.

"I don't know. . . I don't know what to do," she admitted. She knows she can tell Tikki anything — she's her kwamii after all. "I don't even know where to start. I don't know Hawkmoth's identity. I don't even where his lair is. . . And I'm afraid that I might run out of time and I won't be able to save Chat Noir or my family of my friends or —"

"Marinette!" Marinette yelped, startled by Tikki. "You're panicking. Breathe slowly, okay?"

When Marinette had somehow calmed down, Tikki spoke again.

"Maybe you should talk to Master Fu," she suggested. "You'll need the other miraculous. You'll need your friends."

After giving it a thought, Marinette nodded.

"Thank you, Tikki. I don't know what I would do without you."

Tikki smiled cutely. "That's why I'll always be here beside you, Marinette!"
