Chase flung Abigail forward with all his might and let out a loud cry. Abigail landed a little way behind the unicorn, which had sprung forward onto him. He pushed it off but realized that there were also four behind him. A pack of five had been stalking them and lying in wait.

“Abigail, run!” He yelled while trying to keep the unicorns off.

“Chase!” She screamed. Before she had time to get up and run towards him, Charlie had already scooped her up and was flying through the air. She looked down at the clearing where she and Chase had just moments ago kissed.

“Let go of me! We have to go back for him!” She screamed, desperately trying to get out of his grip. He tightened his grip around her, gritted his teeth and continued flying towards the cave. She continued to squirm and scream until he landed safely on the cliff. He carried her inside and rested her next to the fire. Just then, Audra and Jasmine entered the cave.

“We tried to fight them, but there were too many. After Chase got rid of three of the pack, the fourth let out a cry and more came flooding in. They… got Chase and carried him off. We lost sight of them after that,” Audra said darkly.

“No! We have to find them! They’ve got Chase! They’re going to kill him! They’re going to…,” Abigail screamed before bursting into tears. Ash, Nate and Star came running up the stairs.

“What happened? Why is she crying?” Ash asked desperately.

“Where’s Chase?” Nate asked, clearly alarmed.

“Unicorns,” Audra said quietly.

“Why did you leave the cave? Why did you allow yourself to be endangered?!” Charlie yelled angrily at Abigail.

“Charlie, that’s not helping. Stop yelling at her!” Audra said sternly, pulling him aside. Jasmine leaned down and held Abigail’s shoulders.

“He’s going to die and it’s my fault. He’s going to be eaten by them because of me,” Abigail choked, tears streaming down her face. Jasmine shook her gently.

“Look at me. Abigail, look at me. He will not die. He is an angel. He is immortal. This isn’t the first time that something like this has happened to us, alright? The worst they can do is hurt him and tear him up a bit, but he will not die. Even if he does get severely hurt, Star will fix him right up once we’ve rescued him. We’ll set up a rescue party tomorrow and we will find him. You have to trust us,” She said gently. Abigail hiccupped and continued crying. Jasmine hugged her and lifted her up, carrying her down the stairs and into her bedroom.

“Do you promise he won’t die?” Abigail asked quietly through her tears. Jasmine nodded firmly.

“Absolutely. As I said, this isn’t the first time it’s happened. He’ll survive,” she said reassuringly. Abigail continued to cry for the next thirty minutes while Jasmine sat next to her silently, not too sure of what to do. After a while, Nate came in and kneeled down next to her and Jasmine.

“Hey,” he said softly. Abigail looked up at him and wiped her eyes with her sleeves.

“I know you’re worried about him. I am too. He’s like a little brother to me. It’s okay to be worried about the person you love, but you shouldn’t let that cloud your other emotions and distract you from doing something about it. We’ll find him tomorrow, just as Jasmine said. Now I think you need to get some sleep, okay?” He said gently. Abigail sniffed, nodded and pulled her shoes off. She then crawled under the thick, warm blanket of the bed and fell asleep almost instantly. As she fell asleep, Nate’s words rang out in her mind, “…the person you love.”
