"George~" I heard a whisper in my ear. I flinched before moving my head over slightly to see Dream. His eyes were closed and he didn't even notice that I moved. Must be sleep talking. My head fell back to where it was before, my cheek rested against my pillow. I shuddered, the cold air seeping through the thin blanket. I pushed myself closer to Dream so I could share his warmth but it still wasn't enough.
We were still in the blanket fort, but this time the soft purple glow was gone and was replaced with various shades of grays.
A cat lay at my feet, soon interrupted when I flipped over. I stared at Dreams face, his mouth was parted open and his eyes gently closed.
I smiled before another shaft of cold air hit me. I buried myself under the blanket and into his chest, shivering. I heard a soft chuckle, which made me suddenly stop shaking.
I peaked up to see Dream looking down at me, a smile grew across his face. I gripped his sweatshirt embarrassingly and looked away.
"I brought another hoodie in here, you can wear it." His voice was gentle and quiet.
"N-no I'm fine." I muttered, my voice muffled due to my face being pressed so close to him.
"Too bad." He sat up a bit and reached over me before handing me his sweatshirt.
I took it hesitantly and slid it on, the warmth seeping in. It was loose in all places, and the scent of him was strong.
He was looking up at me from the pillow, smiling. "You like it?"
"I guess." I slid under the blanket and stared up at the ceiling of the fort. "This is so childish of us." I laughed a bit.
"Yeah, you're right," he laughed along. "But how could I resist how adorable you were?"
My lips pressed tightly together, my face slowly swallowed by heat. He laughed again. "I can tell you're blushing. It's probably so cute~"
I turned and shoved my face against his chest, nearly suffocating myself. Dream's hand made its way to my head and combed through my hair. I could tell he was looking at me, adoring me. How does he see me in a way so good he can just... stare at me for hours?
After a few minutes, his hand fell away from my head and his breathing became more relaxed. Hes sleeping. Both of his arms were wrapped around me, so if I even tried to move I would wake him up.
The tense feeling in my shoulders fell, pushing my body deeper into his. His warmth swallowing me, making my eyes heavier.
What a cliche. I thought, before drifting into the either colorful or blank hollows we called sleep.
The sound of a door creaking and claws running against a hardwood floor was my alarm clock.
"Hello?" A voice called, sounding deathly familiar.
Shit no, it's my mom. I looked up at Clay, who was still sleeping. I wriggled out of his arms, which caused him to shuffle a bit.
I carefully made my way out of the fort, mindful not to disturb it.
As I stood in the living room, a dog ran to me and jumped happily, excited to see me. I turned around, seeing my mom in the kitchen smiling.
"Uh, hey." I said, somewhat quietly. I'll admit I wasnt the best to look at right now, wearing sweatpants and a hoodie way too big for me.
"You built a fort?" She chuckled.
"Yeah," I said, trying to cover up the growns from tired Dream that came from inside. "I just thought it would be fun."
"Mm, so you weren't doing it to cuddle with your boyfriend?" Her eyes traveled to the floor right outside the fort.
A hand peaked put from under the blankets, revealing Dream. My face flushed.
"Hes not my boyfriend, a-and we weren't cuddling." I stuttered, struggling to get through my words.
"Mm alright." She set a bag on the table, calling for my dog. "Anyway, I thought i would just stop bye to bring her over, shes been missing you."
"I can tell," I chuckled, the dog sitting on my feet.
"Ugh," The blanket fort tugged before coming loose, Dream rolling out was the cause of the mess.
My mom laughed a bit, causing him to poke his head out of the blankets and look over.
"Is this mama George?" He said, his voice deep with exhaustion.
"Yes, it is." I said, flustered.
The dog, previously placed at my feet, wagged over to Dream and started to happily lick his face.
He started laughing, trying to shield his face from the abundance of licks. My mom started laughing, too, ending up in me going along with it.
After a few minutes she shook her hand dismissively. "Alright, I think I'm going to go. You two don't have too much fun." She smirked before calling for the dog.
As my face enveloped by warmth once again, I said my good byes, along with Clay.
The sound of the door closing brought out a relieved sigh, loosening my chest. I threw myself on the couch, my eyes heavy.
"George?" Dream asked, almost nervously.
"Yes?" I opened an eye to look over at him.
"Is there anything I could have for breakfast?"
"Mmh, yeah, look in the fridge." Closing my eye again, I rolled over to face away from the living room.
How did all of this happen in one night?
Noise from the kitchen interrupted my attempted nap. I heaved myself up, taking a blanket from the pile and started dragging it up stairs.
"You're going to sleep?" Dream called, toast in his hands.
"Yeah." I answered quickly, continuing to drag the blanket upstairs.
Trotting down the hallway, I turned towards my room. Falling onto my bed, sleep stole me within seconds.
