My alarm clock blared, causing my eyes to flutter open. I looked around me, confused. It's only 6 am?
I checked my phone lazily, reading the messages between me and Dream from last night.
Dream:
Ok, I'm getting on the plane now. See you soon.Me:
Alright, see you in the morning.Wait fuck, he's getting off in two hours. I jumped up quickly and threw my clothes on before running out the door with my keys. I started up the car and began my hour long trip to the airport.
The way there was mostly me dodging different vehicles to get into the right lanes, the traffic a frenzy of red lights and loud beeping.
When I arrived I bought a couple of snacks, assuming he'd be hungry after a 9 hour flight. I shoved the snacks into my bag and slung it over my shoulder.
I slowly made my way to where Dreams flight would land. When I came to the gate I sat on a bench and started scrolling through my phone.
A buzz went off before people began to file through a door. I scanned the crowd, looking for Dream. Wait, I don't know what he looks like.
I stayed where I was and let everybody get their luggage and leave. Some people remained, all either waiting or on their phones.
Me:
You here yet?I looked up immediately to see if anybody went to look at their phone. To my surprise, there was, a tall man standing with a big suit case set next to him.
Dream:
Yeah, where are you?Right as I got the message he looked up and began to search for somebody. His head turned slowly, his eyes visibly flickering from left to right, until he saw me. We held eye contact for a split second before I looked down at my phone, blushing ferociously.
Holy fuck he's hot. I thought, before looking up quickly to see if he was still there. For some reason he wasn't, but I still kept my head down to shield people from seeing how embarrassed I was.
"Boo~" I suddenly heard behind me. I flinched aggressively before looking over my shoulder.
There he was, wheezing, having to keep his balance by holding onto the bench. I looked away and laughed, my face burning brighter.
"Hi, Clay." I greeted when he was done. He took a seat by me on the bench, already noticeably taller than me.
"Hey, why aren't you wearing my merch?" He asked, staring at my plain black sweatshirt.
I looked away. "Because I'm in public. I don't want to seem like some dumb Dream fan."
"Pfft, you idiot. Anyway, are we gonna go back to your place now? I’m like, really exhausted.” He stood up and began to stretch.
“Uhm, yeah, sure,” I said, standing up as well and grabbing my bag. “I bought some snacks if you’d like them..” I turned over to look up at him, he was already staring down at me.
“Oh yeah, in the car, maybe?” He turned his head away.
“Yeah..” This is going to be so awkward. I couldn’t help but sigh before leading him out of the airport.
When we got back to my car I gave him my bag so he could find something to eat. He pulled out a bag of crisps cautiously and opened it, the greasy smell already overwhelming me.
“Have you eaten anything today?” He looked over at me.
“No, not yet. I’ll have something when we get home.” I began the even longer drive back.
