[Destined - Chapter 3]

"Hey, guys!" Autumn called out as she came over to the four, slightly tipsy. "So we need more cups! There might be some in the storage room on the top shelf. Could you guys go see if there are more? I would, but I'm too short and I can't find Jax."

"Sure," Theo agreed with a shrug and exited the kitchen, Kian following behind him. They walked quietly down the hallway and passed the living room where the majority of the people were.

"So, what was your old pack like?" Theo asked, deciding that he might as well make small talk.

"The people there aren't as nice...and I definitely enjoy the scenery here. It was dry there, and more populated, plus my Alpha was kind of an asshole. He had a mate and rejected her for some bitch. She disappeared. There's a lot of rumors and shit, so I don't know what to believe."

Theo grunted as he slowly nodded his head. "You said your dad taught you how to pilot a plane?"

"Yeah," he answered. "Back before we moved, my dad had a personal plane and would take me out for rides. I would always beg him to go out for a flight. Then he showed me how to work it. But once we moved, I never asked him again. That's why I was uncertain in Canada, especially because it was different from the small plane."

"Well you obviously knew what you were doing, because we're still alive." They passed a few doors and people, two of them making out off to the side, and reached the storage room.

"Well I was just winging it," Kian said with a wink. Theo snorted and shook his head at the terrible pun. Theo pushed the door open and flicked on the lights, revealing a small room with storage compartments.

"So you said you moved? This is the third pack you've been to?" Theo questioned out of curiosity.

"Yup."

"Why did you move?"

Kian hesitated, lowering his gaze to the floor. "Um," he mumbled, Theo almost didn't catch it. "The pack members weren't kind, and my parents thought it was best to move to a better pack."

Theo studied Kian's face, taking note of the sad look in his emerald eyes and the small, downward tilt of his lips as he recalled the distant memories. He obviously didn't have a good childhood. Should he ask him about it? It was obvious he felt uncomfortable with the topic.

The silence between the two made Kian feel anxious as his eyes darted around the room in an attempt to find something to change the subject. "There's the cups," he blurted out, pointing at the top shelf.

Theo glanced up and saw a pack of cups sitting on the shelf with some plates and bowls. The shelf was a tad bit out of his reach, and he tried jumping but his fingers barely touched the plastic of the wrapper.

"Geez, how did they get that up there?" Theo muttered to himself. "Do you think you can boost me up?"

"Huh?" Kian asked, caught off guard.

"Can you give me a lift? I think I can reach it," Theo repeated more slowly and loudly, as if Kian was deaf or incompetent.

Kian blinked, but slowly nodded his head. "O-oh yeah, sure." He stepped towards Theo, closing the distance between the two boys and bent over slightly, locking his hands together. Theo stepped on his hands and got lifted up just enough for him to clasps his fingers over the plastic wrap.
