Kian nervously sat on the couch, fiddling with his fingers as he tried to occupy his anxious mind. Ever since Autumn stranded him outside, his mind made him almost go insane.
So he spent a few seconds composing himself outside of Theo's front door. He concluded that he needed to relax a little. After a lot of mental debate, he knocked on the glass door and waited for Theo to answer.
Now he sat on a very expensive sofa in the sleek, modern living room, waiting for Theo to return with a bottle of water. Both of them refused to drink anything that could impair ones thought process and control their actions. Although, Kian didn't need the alcohol to feel his body react in the peculiar way it did every time he was around the other man.
Theo finally came back with two water bottles in his hands. He tossed one over to Kian before sitting in the comfortable armchair diagonal from him. There was a moment of awkward silence as the two struggled to find the right words.
"How was school?" Theo wanted to face palm himself after he asked the stupid question.
"Uh, it was good..."
"Learn anything new?"
"Not really," Kian awkwardly replied, his voice slightly trembling.
Theo and Kian remained quiet after that for a few moments.
"You were gone when I came back," Theo spoke up, referring to the party a couple nights ago.
"Yeah," Kian rubbed his neck. "I felt tired and decided to go home. I needed..." he trailed off at the end, not knowing how to finish the sentence.
"To think?" he finished for him. Kian nodded his head, eyes lowering to the floor as his cheeks flamed.
Another few agonizingly slow minutes passed before Theo broke the silence once more, "Look, I don't know what happened. Maybe it was the alcohol, maybe it wasn't, but I'm honestly not sure what we're supposed to do from here. Obviously this mate bond is here. I can feel it, and I sure as hell know you do, too. And I know for a fact that it's not going to go away."
Kian held his intense gaze and swallowed the lump building up in his throat. This was the first time they actually discussed the matter at hand, explicitly acknowledging the mate pull between them. "What do we do? I don't swing that way and neither do you."
Theo's nonchalant expression faltered slightly. Ever since they kissed, he questioned his own morals and feelings. He hated to admit it, but that was the best damn kiss he'd ever received, and the vivid moment replayed on loop in his head as if it happened just a second ago. His searing lips, smooth muscles, silky hair, hint of stubble, and strong scent. His scent, which consisted of cologne and a light hint of smoke, wouldn't leave his nose. It drove him mad.
When Theo's pants felt tight against his groin, he glanced down, noticing the obvious bulge. Shit. He refused to let Kian notice it. He grabbed the throw pillow next to him and sat it on his lap, leaning forward on it.
"Yeah, we could pretend it never happened?" Theo suggested, trying to mask his hoarse voice.
Now it was Kian's turn to have his mouth turn down slightly, but only for a second. "Got it," he answered, hoping his tone didn't sound bitter. He stood up, "I guess I should go now that we acknowledged the elephant in the room."
