Dr. Kleber bounces into the room energetically and introduces Gina to everyone. Gina, who is fluent in German is suddenly so nervous, that she begins to stutter and forget her vocabulary.
Thomas whispers into Maurice's ear:THOMAS
She can't even speak German! That's just great!Maurice strokes his hand smoothingly.
MAURICE
It's going to be alright, mon ami!Thomas pulls his hand away abruptly.
THOMAS
Don't touch me, you idiot! This is all your fault. The editorial staff meeting begins. Gina places lists and spreadsheets on the table in front of her and concentrates on her laptop. The secretary asks whether anyone would like coffee. Gina asks for a decaffeinated mocha with skim milk, with just a dash of cream on top. The secretary and all others look at her in astonishment. Thomas grimaces. He has just recognized the pain in the neck from the food department.
When Gina finally receives her cup of coffee laced with canned milk, she shoves it aside in disgust after her first sip.
Dr. Kleber begins the meeting and gives Gina the floor after introducing her officially to everyone. She is very well prepared, outlines her new programme concept, talks about the typical lifestyle of a hedonist society in which one must above all be considered "hip", and stresses that the show must take this Zeitgeist into account.
