MAURICE
(whispers into Thomas' ear)
What does baby food have to do with it? How young is our target group supposed to be?
(**Note to audience: This is a reference to the word "hip" which is also the brand-name of one of Germany's leading baby food manufacturers.)
At first, Thomas only stares at him, then he moans slightly and rolls his eyes heavenward.
The preparations for the trial cooking session with Gina and Thomas are in full swing.
Gina, who needs the inspiration of music to cook really well, has brought her own collection of CD's.Thomas, feeling nauseated, cannot resist grimacing once again.
The taping is in process. Gina moves rhythmically in time to a samba tune, smelling appreciatively at a bunch of basil, examining the tomatoes lying in front of her, then cutting open an over-ripe one. The juice runs down her hand. Closing her eyes, she licks it off.
Thomas automatically hands her a dish cloth with which she wipes her mouth. Only now do they really look at each other for the first time. Then they begin simultaneously to chop up small onions, erratically at first, then finally rhythmically in sync. Both make a grab for the olive oil at the same moment, their hands touching briefly. Thomas now begins to pick up the samba melody himself.
Perspiring profusely, Gina scrapes out a hot pan, then sensually brushes a wisp of hair from her face. Thomas pours champagne into the pan; it hisses momentarily before continuing to simmer quietly.
Gina and Thomas cook together like a couple of people who have taken years to perfect difficult ice skating routines. The erotic tension between the two is palpable in the entire studio.
Thomas and Gina are entranced. They have never cooked so harmoniously with any other partner before.Maurice, who is having yet another one of his discussions with Ingo on the phone, lowers his mobile in open-mouthed amazement.
Caroline is wearing a dreamy facial expression and bites absent-mindedly into an apple.
