I don't dare look back because that would be obvious, but judging by Hermione's gaze I already know enough. 'Malfoy?' I ask quietly. She raises 1 eyebrow. 'No.' II see her sink into her thoughts because why would I think it was Draco.
Stupid, Juliette stupid...
'Who then?" asks Luna who is sitting next to me and therefore cannot turn around.
'Adrian Pucey,' says Hermione quietly. 'The chaser of the Slytherin Quiditch team!? Luna asks enthusiastically. Hermione's eyes widen. 'Not so loud,' she hisses. I burst out laughing. Hermione's gaze races to me. I decide to get up and ''have a look'' at the bookshelves. 'Juliette,' Hermione hisses softly. I turn around and Pucey's eyes meet mine, I smile uncomfortably and walk quickly to one of the bookcases. Luna at the table tries to hold back her laughter. I roll my eyes. After a few minutes of ''searching'' between some dusty books I see a book about potions which I can always use. I could feel Pucey's eyes burning and I don't dare walk back yet. I pull the Potions book out of the row of old and dusty books and walk a row further so that I will be out of sight. Boys always make me nervous. It's a Slytherin boy so Hermione doesn't like this at all. I don't understand why it's such a big deal here. I know Luna doesn't care, I happen to know she has Slytherin friends.
I could punch myself in the face when I think back to what I said to Hermione. 'Malfoy?'
Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Hopefully she'll forget about it soon and not mention it to Ron and Harry either. After some thought and silly dawdling I walked back to the table where Luna and Hermione were sitting but when I walked around the corner I saw that the table was no longer filled with books and sandwiches and the oak chairs around the table were empty. Luna and Hermione were gone but Pucey was still there. I sat down uncomfortably and opened the book. The History of Potions.
'So...' Pucey sits down on the chair next to me and throws his feet up on the table.
'So... ' I repeat to him while looking in his direction. He starts to laugh. 'Sorry for the uncomfortable stare earlier,' he says, sitting down back in his chair normally. 'It's not a big deal.' I turn a page of the book. 'I'm used to it.' I try to hold back my laughter because that sounded very arrogant. 'Oh is that so,' Pucey says in a sarcastic way. 'But why stare, you could have just walked up to me, and what is it anyway that you need to talk to me so badly.' 1 of my eyebrows goes up and I look his way. 'You know how Hermione is about Slytherins.' I swallow because I knew he was right but I wish I knew why. 'And you just seemed friendly for no particular reason,' a smile appears on his mouth. 'Sometimes-' I look at him challengingly. 'Sometimes, I'm nice.'
'But I must continue to study for Potions or I won't pass the test tomorrow anyway,' I sigh deeply. His gaze brightens. 'Potions is something I'm very good at,' he says. I hoped he'd just go away and leave me alone so I could go and find Hermione and Luna. They wouldn't just leave without me.
'What is the test about?' He looks at me questioningly and I slide the book under his nose. 'Oh, I remember from last year.'Pucey was a year ahead of me, I knew that because he was friends with Draco as far as I knew, but he wasn't in our class.Pucey was a year ahead of me, I knew that because he was friends with Draco as far as I knew, but he wasn't in our class. . I heard Pucey mumbling in the background but I didn't listen. 'I get it.' I closed the book and got up. 'But I hadn't even started on the real subject-' His voice rang between the bookshelves. 'I'll see you another time.' I walked away as fast as I could.
I felt guilty about leaving Pucey behind, because he really wasn't that unfriendly, but I had to find Luna and Hermione. Maybe Harry needed help and she didn't want to take me along anymore because she didn't trust me, after my comment earlier. I knew I was thinking too much, but what if...
