serena's pov:

"Serena Lillian!!"

I heard the deafening scream, one that could be heard from a mile away, which meant I was in big trouble. After racing down what felt like millions of stairs, I was met with my face inches away from my cousin Daniella, Dani as what we like to call her.

"Rena, your dad's here."

Dani was kind of my only family, besides my dad. My dad's only ever in the same two places over the summer, so it's kind of lame around here during the school off-season. He always went to his colleague's house, or in his words, he'd go out. Times like this make me miss my mom.

I never knew my mom, but I knew her from my dad's stories. My dad said she was a very beautiful woman and had doe-like eyes, hair as red as burning embers and fair porcelain skin. My dad never spoke on her much because of all the grief her death had brought, but even after pressing, he'd still let me see photos and would always compare our similar complexions.

"Pumpkin, the mail's here, that's why I had Daniella call you down," he said, moving around his trunk of clothes from the week prior after staying at the manor.

After sorting through the mail with numerous letters from the ministry, the Daily Prophet, as well as other letters for father regarding classwork, I find a beige colored envelope with a red wax seal and our summer home's address on the front. I looked on the front, confused on why it had my name on it.

I tore it open and inside it read:

"Dear Miss Snape,

We are pleased to inform you that you have been accepted at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.

Please find an enclosed list of all the necessary books and equipment that you will need.

Term begins on the 1st of September, we await your owl with a response by the 31st of July.

Yours Sincerely,

Minerva McGonagall"

After processing the enclosed letter, I figured this was all a given. After being around my father and his potions, I always hoped for something after being around it. I mean, it's in my blood, so this was bound to happen.

"Dad, I believe this is my Hogwarts acceptance letter," I waved around the letter in his face.

"Now Rena, you're going to have to keep your identity sacred, understood? You can't be known as my daughter, on papers you will use Evans, which was your mother's maiden name."

"Dad, why am I such a secret?" I huffed

"Pumpkin, I cannot reveal that for I am not the right person to talk to, one day you will be told but it won't come from me,"  he stared off.

*Snape's flashback from four years ago"

"Ah Severus, I heard about your ex-lover's niece Daniella, a muggle I presumed." Snape looked over and Daniella was dangling from above, "I had given her some veritaserum that I had swiped, hoping she'd spill anything questionable about your loyalty to the dark side, instead she gave me some vital information."

"What is it that you have heard, my lord?"

"You have a daughter named Serena, she is currently living out a muggle life in the United States, is that correct?"

"Yes, my lord, she is."

"Splendid! She should be transferred here at Hogwarts, say during her sixth year perhaps? You will make the school know of this because of your connections and during that time, she will receive the dark mark but nobody will know her as your daughter, understood?" Bellatrix cackled, clapping her hands.
