Luke Williams' Point of View:
2 months later
My heart hammered against my chest as I ran a hand through my hair. It was finally here, my wedding day. Camilla didn't want to walk down the aisle with a pregnant belly so we decided to have a winter wedding. The last few weeks were a bit stressful as we tried to plan our wedding as quickly and beautifully as possible. I said we but in truth Camilla did most of the work. We didn't have a wedding planner as Alex, my mom and Aunt Talia was all the help we needed. Aunt Talia had even taken a course when she had her first daughter for times like these.
Our wedding starts at one in the afternoon and it was correctly twelve-forty which meant I had exactly twenty minutes to get my act together. I was currently in the bathroom trying to not overthink. My mind kept creating scenarios where Camilla left me at the alter.
I jumped as there was a knock at the door.
"You okay bro?" Nate asked "you've been in there a while"
I opened the door and stepped out, "I'm fine"
Just then dad walked into the room. He took one glance at me and smiled knowingly. He walked towards me and gave me a quick pat on the shoulder.
"Don't worry son she'll show up," he smiled reassuringly.
"How'd you know that's what I was thinking about?" I asked shocked.
He chuckled softly, "I've married your mother twice now and both times I was praying she wouldn't leave me at the altar"
"You have nothing to worry about," Nate spoke up "Camilla loves you"
"Its time to head out," Dad muttered as he glanced at his watch.
I nodded as I grabbed my suit jacket and followed him through the door. We had decided to have the wedding at my parent's house since the estate was large enough. The ceremony would be held in the back yard and the reception would be held at Nate's nearby hotel in the ballroom. We wanted a intimate wedding without the hassle of booking a venue.
Walking down the stairs I followed dad as he opened the glass doors that led to the backyard.
"I'll go get the girls," Dad grinned as he walked away.
Camilla didn't have any family that we knew of and so she didn't have anyone to walk her down the aisle. After having to console her I told her that she could always ask my dad to do it. Her face had brightened at the idea and the very next day she had me drive up to their house so she could ask him in person. When she had asked him it grew silent and I swore I wouldn't have been able to hear a pin drop. Dad nodded his head as tears brimmed his eyes ever since then he's been excited for this day to come.
My eyes scanned the crowd as everyone turned to look at us. Taking a deep breath I walked down the aisle greeting some of the people as I went. Nate followed behind me. I greeted the pastor and shook his hand. Nate did the same and we went to stand in our spots and waited for the ceremony to begin.
"Hey man relax," Nate whispered as he noticed me fidgeting.
"I'm trying to," I hissed as I glanced at my watch. It was now two minutes to one.
My eyes were glued to the glass doors as Aunt Talia suddenly walked through. Glued to her side was a small boy and girl who I recognized as her grandchildren, our flower girl and ring bearer. Soft classical music could be heard as Alex came into view. Nate gasped softly as Alex walked down the aisle. She looked beautiful and I could just imagine how much more stunning Camilla would look.
