The youth stepped up to the golden throne. “It is me, Father,” he said. “It’s Theseus.”

King Aegeus stood up. Coldly, he looked at the boy, looked at the young man with blonde curls, so much like his had been when he was young. The king looked down to the youth’s feet, where there was a pair of sandals, and looked up to what the man held: a sword with a golden hilt, and an unmistakable pattern along the blade. Smiling now, the king opened his arms. “Welcome home, my son.” He turned around to look at the open mouthed subjects that stood before him. “He has returned!” The king cried out. “Prince Theseus has returned to us!”
