"you think excitement has receded then the mirror distracts
the logic of the trance quickly reaches and grasps
handsome and faceless
and weightless, your imagination runs"

alex was one to try and act cool and uninterested, but when it came to eleanor romeo, well that all slipped his mind in an instant. he did want to appear like that to her, but she could see right through him. yet, she still didn't leave. she didn't seem put off by him, she couldn't care less if he was cool and unbothered or not. there was just a magnetism about her that drew him in.

after hoisting himself up and out of the cold pool, alex turned and grabbed ellie's outstretched hands to help her out as well. she fell into his chest slightly as she stumbled up and almost dove back in as she bounced backwards off him but alex had grabbed her shoulders quickly. he wasn't sure which one but could tell that she'd taken some type of drug, maybe multiple different kinds.

there was one towel on a sun lounger along the side of the pool and he grabbed the fluffy material, unfolding it and wrapping it around the girls shaking shoulders. she welcomed the warmth and hugged the towel around her body before a sad look took over her face as she realised alex didn't have a towel.

"come here, al. don't be cold." her slurred voice spoke as she opened the towel and hugged alex to wrap it around him.

he giggled at her and adjusted the towel so they both comfortably fitted into it, "thankyou nora."

the two walked towards the house, now with the added body warmth of each other. they walked through the large sliding doors and alex closed it behind them as no one else was outside anymore.

"ellie! god, where have you been? oh, you've jumped in the pool haven't you." the bubbly girl alex remembered from yesterday said as she approached them, a motherly tone to her voice. "i'll go get you another towel." she said and dashed away without giving either of them a chance to reply.

"she's great." ellie smiled stupidly.

there was only a few people left lingering about now, looking lost in the wrecked house. a house after a party always felt like a skeleton to alex, a place abandoned by its life and left with the remains of all its fun and happiness.

he kicked a random plastic cup out the way as he lead them both to the living room. they sat on the black leather settee together, completely forgetting they were dripping with cold water but they couldn't have cared anyway as it was owned by an arsehole.

eleanor leaned against alex, her eyes feeling heavy as she found comfort from the warmth of his body. he wrapped his arm around her shoulder, covering her with the towel.

"there y'are! ryan fucked off about twenty minutes ago, we were looking for you." matt entered the room, spotting alex and ellie immediately as jamie followed after him at hearing he'd found them.

"as you can tell, i was having a relaxing swim." alex replied sarcastically, his head lolling back against the shiny sofa.

"yeah, i'm sure you enjoyed it a lot." jamie laughed, referring to eleanor being the one he'd had 'a relaxing swim' with.

"fuck," ellie drawled out in a whiny voice. "where are my cigs?"

jamie tapped his pockets before pulling out a pack of his own, him being the only of the three boys that smoked. "here y'are, have one of mine." he handed her one and a lighter.

"cheers jamie." she smiled and twisted around on the sofa, rising onto her knees as the towel fell from her shoulders. she leaned forward and pushed open the window behind their heads, her stomach slightly brushing against alexs arm that rested along the back of the seat.
