Chapter 7

"Tell us everything!"

Sidney and Jacob had come to my apartment today to talk about the date last night. And well they were doing most of the talking,

"Did he kiss you?"

"Was there tongue?"

"Where did you go?"

"What did you eat?"

"Did he pay?"

"Guys slow down!" I loved my new friends but it was kinda like being interviewed by the Russian government, "He didn't kiss me, so there was no tongue, we went to an arcade, I had pepperoni pizza, and he forgot his wallet so Blake had to come and pay." I finished with hardly an air left in my lunges

"Adam forgot his wallet?" Sidney asks obviously confused

"What kind of an dimwit does that?" Jacobs says laughing

"Hey!" She snaps "don't be mean!"

"Hello! Hi, yeah. Remember me? The person who was on the date?"

"Sorry Opal, did you have a good time?" Sidney asks apologetically

"Yeah actually I had a great time! I would definitely hang out with him again!"

"You look happy for a Monday"

"Shut up Blake I always look happy"

"It's because of me." Adam cuts in putting his arm around me. It feels kind of funny but I guess it's because we weren't allowed to date at the academy.

I looked up at Adam and smiled. Just as I was about to give a witty come back the bell rang and had to ruin the moment. I glanced at Blake, he looked happy, was it because the bell rang? Because I'm pretty sure most people didn't have that reaction to school starting? I know I sure didn't.

"I'll walk you to class?" Adam asked, he said it more like a question then a statement

I snorted "I don't need a escort" Sidney elbowed me in the ribs, "but I'd love if you'd walked with me"

So that's what happened, we walked hand in hand to my first class. Adam's class was on the other side of the school and he was sure to be late but that didn't seem to matter to him, I don't understand why.

"Hey Sidney, can I ask you something?"
We were in the locker room changing after gym, our last class before lunch. I was kind of trying to stall, not really wanting another awkward detention with Blake and Adam.

"Of course!"

"Why did Adam walk me to class even though his class was on the other side of the school and he knew he was going to be late?"

She started giggling, "that's what people do when they are together. They put the other person before themselves."

"That's stupid"

"There must not have been many couples at your old school" she said smiling

She was right, Adam was my first real boyfriend. The academy didn't allow dating but it's not like they could stop a bunch of teenage spies from hooking up once and a while. Before you say anything I'm not slut, I had a few hook ups. It's not big deal.

"Opal?"

"Sorry, I was just thinking about the academ- um academics, the academics at RiverRoad and how different they are here." I was getting very lazy and unskilled.. I'd have to be more careful, maybe see if I could get the academy to lend me one of my old books.
