I finally realized most people don't writes stuff at the top of their stories...
Disclaimer: I don't own any of the arrowverse/DC/CW characters storylines or really anything to do with them. This is purely fanfiction for the enjoyment of others
Barry and Oliver were making up cots while Iris and Felicity were checking in on Alex. With the fight over and Cisco and James expected to make a full recovery, the reasons they were on earth 38 were beginning to set it. Both heros had dealt with loss, Barry his mother, father, and HR. Oliver had lost his parents as well, along with Yao Fei, Shado, Akio, Maseo, and Laurel. Still, Kara was different somehow. Barry saw how strong she was when they first met on her earth and then later when she helped with the Dominators. Oliver had told Kara to back off and she rushed in and saved his life despite his rude behavior. In training no one was able to take Kara down, she didn't even get bruised once. Then, at Barry's wedding she still survived, through red sun radiation and fighting someone with her own powers. Kara has always been so strong, it was hard for everyone to wrap their heads around her really being gone.
"How are you doing Barry?" Oliver finally breaks the silence between them. Barry looks over at his usually hooded friend and then back at the sheets he's tucking into the cot.
"Honestly Oliver?" Barry starts, not making eye contact. "I'm not great. I just can't believe Kara's gone, and after watching that clip- I can't get it out of my mind." Oliver nodded sadly. "She should have called us Oliver."
"You and I both know Kara hates her friends in danger. She wouldn't have called even if she failed at first, she would've just gone back and tried again." Oliver replies and Barry knows he's right.
"I know, when we were trapped in a musical together she ran into gun fire to try and help me, even though she knew she could die in that weird world."
"Sounds like Kara." Oliver chuckles. "I hate that she's gone, but we can't change that."
"I wish we could." Barry sighs, finishing up his last cot. "I'm going to go see Cisco one last time before we all try and get some sleep. See you Oliver." Barry gave a small smile and left the room, the wound of losing Kara was still too fresh.
None of the visiting heroes slept very well that night. Alex also stayed at the DEO but she had even less luck when it came to peaceful slumber. All Alex could focus on was two funerals she had to attend when she woke up. Alex gave up trying to sleep around 6am. So she got up and went to a local cafe run by some aliens, Winn and J'onn went with her, they didn't sleep well either. They picked up a ton of coffee and breakfast for all their guests and made their way back to DEO. Winn and J'onn tried simple small talk, avoiding the funeral and the events of the past few days. Alex walked ahead of them, silent. The events of the day weighing hard on her, she didn't want to attend a funeral for her sister much less two. J'onn and Winn were worried about Alex, but Winn had talked to her and it hadn't changed much, Alex was grieving and they needed to let her. Arriving back at the DEO, the three went straight to the place where the earth-1ers were staying. It was 7am then and Alex was surprised to see them awake.
"Did you sleep at all?" J'onn asks with a kind smile, putting his tray of coffees down on a nearby table.
"We slept, just not much." Sara admits with a slightly smug smile, it then fades as she remembers what the day has in store.
"Well, maybe a hot breakfast and coffee will help with that." Winn says, handing out food.
"Thanks Winn." Barry says. "This might be just what we need." Alex hands Winn the rest of the food and turns to leave, but Sara grabs her arm.
