"These are all criminal records. Just take the papers and file them in the cabinet by last names. If there isn't a file for someone, make a new folder." "No problem. Thanks Espo. If you need me, just holler."
While filing papers may not be the most fun job to do at the precinct, it's a start. I don't care, this internship is a once in a lifetime experience. If I can start by filing criminal records and work my way up from there, I'm totally okay with that. "Yo, Jess!" I hear Espo call from behind me. I turn around, "What's up?" "Come here for a minute. There's someone I want you to meet."
"This is Detective Ryan. He's my partner. If you need something and I'm not around, just ask him. He'll help you out." "Hi, Detective. Nice to meet you," I say, trying to hide all of my excitement. "Nice to meet you too, Jessi. Like Javi said, if there's anything you need, you can ask me. Don't hesitate." Javi? I suddenly become so confused. Then I see his name tag. "Detective Javier Esposito." I get it now. His first name is Javier, which is why Detective Ryan called him Javi. "Okay, cool, thanks," I say, suddenly snapping back to reality. I wonder if they noticed my confusion. Oh well. Back to filing papers.
"Look, Captain, I don't care that he's a friend of yours! He murdered her with a fluorescent light bulb! He can't just get away from that! You're too close to this case, let me take it." I suddenly hear yelling again from the Captain's office. The brunette woman detective is in there again. She must be really angry about the case she's working on. Espo comes up behind me and scares me when he starts talking. "Detective Beckett. One of the smartest detectives in the NYPD. Just warning you, don't make her mad." "Shit. Who's her partner?" I ask. "Richard Castle, he's a-" "THE AUTHOR!? I love his books!" "Yep, him. He first came here four years ago to shadow Beckett, and he's been here ever since. He's kind of her partner now, but he doesn't get paid or anything. He's just along for the ride, persay." "Interesting."
Wow, Richard Castle. Too cool. He's like my favorite author. I can't believe I'm going to met him! Could this day be any better? Seriously. It's only ten o'clock in the morning. I have nine hours left today still. This is insane.
