As we pull up to the crime scene, I notice that we are at an apartment in a really bad part of the Bronx. "Just stay with me," Espo says. Don't mind if I do.

Walking into the apartment, I notice that whoever was murdered must be rich. There's expensive furniture, paintings, and sculptures everywhere. I'm wondering why the victim lives in this apartment, in one of the worst areas of the Bronx. This man was rich! He could've lived in any apartment in New York City! Then, I see the victim, laying on the living room floor of this apartment, with a pool of blood surrounding him. Beckett starts her work right away. "So, who's our vic, Lanie?" "John Manderhorn, forty-six years old, lives in this apartment. He's married. He has abrasions on his head and neck. Looks like he was beaten and maybe strangled. Whoever did this is definitely and expert, though. They made sure not to leave any prints, fibers, or DNA." Lanie Parish, the Medical Examiner for the precinct, is one of the best ME's around. She's smart, informative, and is very good at what she does. "Was it a robbery?" Beckett asks. "There's nothing in the house that shows signs of being rustled through, so it's obvious that the killer didn't plan to rob the victim. I estimate the time of death between one and three this morning." "Hmm. Well, I'll go check with the family of the vic and see what they have to say. Ryan and Esposito, and umm, your little tag along, go check with the neighbors to see if they heard anything or saw anyone strange hanging around last night." "Got it," Ryan says.

Ryan, Espo, and I leave to go to the first neighbor's apartment. "Really? Your little tag along? What is wrong with her? Does she really hate me? That little shit." I say. Ryan and Espo both look at me with wide eyes. "Did I just say that out loud? I mean... wow. I loooove Detective Beckett. She's so nice." "Yeah, right," Ryan says. "Don't worry, baby, she's just trying to get used to you being around. It took her two years to get used to us," Espo says. "Okay, whatever, can we just work on the case?" I say, trying to get over what an ass Beckett just was to me. "Oh my God, you just sounded like Beckett," Ryan says, as they both shiver. "Oh shut up," I say.

Ryan knocks on the door of the apartment. "NYPD, open up!" he says. We hear rustling in the apartment. A loud crash. "OW!!!" a woman screams from inside. Ryan and Espo both pull out their guns. "Jess, get behind me," Espo says.
