Qihe's POV
The sun was setting down, and I felt the last ray of sunshine softly touching my face while I sat there, all alone, waiting, for anything to happen, to wake me up from this frozen trance I had been living in.
Days, weeks, moths and even years have passed since the night my parents and my own blood sister, who I all loved dearly, got assassinated in that fire.
Burning all my memories down until the root, making the old Qihe die with them perhaps, this was all destined, but why?
What did I do wrong in my past life to make everyone I love in this life to suffer for me?
I stood up, opening my arms as if I was trying to embrace the cold air that prickled against my skin while a soft smile tugged at my lips, this was life, and whatever would happen, I would face it with all I have, as I promise my youngest sister, I would live for them, fight for them, and get their revenge.
What will you do after this all, Qihe?
Lily's voice came up again, asking the question I had been asking myself all this time, "what will happen, will eventually come," I whispered the words on the breeze of the wind while letting out a deep sigh.
"You're not planning to jump, right?"
I turned around by the sudden sounds of a familiar voice, looking into the eyes of an old childhood friend who I hadn't seen in a long time.
"Hullow Yibo." I watched how he took a deep breath, he was afraid of heights, and it surprised me he even dared to come this high on the roof.
"Qihe, tell me you're not planning to jump off this roof," Yibo said, his voice shaky, making me laugh, and once again I spread my arms, looking down to the edge where I was standing, maybe I really was going to jump, someday, but not today, today I still wanted to live.
"No, I am just enjoying the beautiful scenery here, so come sit with me," I casually said, patting the place next to me while I sat down, letting my legs bungle on the roof.
"You know this is insane, right?" Even though his voice was unstable, he still came to sit next to me, letting his legs bungle down next to mine too, and I knew it cost him much confidence to win over his fear and trust to come to sit next to me like this, maybe he was still the same innocent baby boy he once used to be.
"You changed quite much." I smiled softly at Yibo's words, staring into the endless sea of lights that were visible from this height before softly responding, "I know, but so did the world, we all change with time, sometimes good, sometimes bad, but we all change, we all do, even if we don't want to."
The wind was whispering in my ear while I looked at Yibo, his eyes carrying a soft glance form the person he once used to be, and maybe we all indeed changed, and he was the only one who did not change.
"And since when did you become so poetic." Yibo laughed while ruffling my hair while I scrunched my nose, letting my body lean backwards on the roof.
"Maybe this was overall always in my blood." Yibo let out a laugh, a sincere sound filled with happiness when he lay down next to me, and we both were quiet, staring at the sky.
The moon had come up, but no stars were visible, not yet at least, and it was a nice moment filled with a peace I hadn't felt in months and perhaps in years.
Suddenly Yibo started to hum softly, a song I remembered way too well, it was a song all of our parents sung to us like a lullaby . . .
When Yibo finally came to an end, another familiar voice spoke up, "it doesn't surprise me you're here, Qihe, but don't drag my baby Bo with you if you're planning to jump." I laughed while Zhan walked quickly to Yibo, embracing him.
I pouted while Yibo pecked Zhan's lips, a couple destined by fate.
I sighed, "I gotta be single forever, right?" Yibo giggled while Zhan continued hugging hi possessively while glaring at me, "Zhan, bro, calm down, I won't steal your boyfriend, no worries, I'll buy 9 cats and knitting pens~" That made a small smile appear on Zhan's lips while he shook his head.
"Yibo, if Zhan ever bullies you or is mean to you-" Even before I got to finish my words, someone pulled my ear harshly, and I turned my head, looking straight into Eliwa's dark eyes.
I grinned at her while she hit the back of my head softly, sitting down with us too, "Yibo, ignore that idiot the moment he opens his mouth to speak; nothing serious comes out of it." Yibo nodded like a lost baby while Zhan planted a kiss on his hair.
"Anyway, not to break the moment, but it has been a long time that we have sat down, all together, excluding the fact that Lily is not with us, we should enjoy today because we don't know what tomorrow will bring," I said while Eliwa nodded.
"Since when did you became so poetic?" Zhan raised an eyebrow while I laughed at Zhan, and maybe Yibo and he was really soulmates.
"Another side of me, do you like it?" I winked at Zhan, who only snorted while I yawned, and overgoing effect because Yibo also started to yawn, then Zhan, and when I looked over to Eliwa, I saw her eyes where fluttering for sleep.
"Tomorrow will be a long day because we need to get Lily and set up everything, so go sleep already, and take your soulmates with you Zhan, I'll be taking care of Eliwa and escort her back to her room."
Zhan nodded at me, carrying Yibo, who first struggled back but in the end gave in to Zhan, and when they were gone, I looked at Eliwa.
"I can go by myself." I grabbed her wrist, pulling her closer.
"I had an idea," I whispered into her ear.
She shook her head, "when you have an idea, it's never a good thing."
I smiled before whispering back, "it includes Zhan and Yibo, so are you in for it?"
Eliwa sighed, "do I even have a choice?"
My grip on her wrist loosened, with a small devilish smile creeping up to my lips, "no, you don't."
