"I told you to call me if you ever start feeling like this," my mom said, patting my hair to soothe me.
"I know, I'm sorry."
"It's okay, just breathe. I have something important to talk to you about," she carefully spoke.
"Should I leave?" Jisung quietly spoke, eyes looking at me for affirmation.
"No, it's okay. I think it'd be better for you to stay anyway," she smiled. Jisung smiled a little back, eyes still filled with concern.
My mom was usually never serious—she usually had a soft, caring tone talking to me and my friends. She knew where the line was, and she knew how to not cross it. So when she said there was something important to discuss, I only felt the anxiety in my chest grow, feeling the blood rush through my veins.
"Don't worry Mi, it's nothing to stress over," she spoke softly, continuing to soothe my head. "Your dad contacted me the other day."
My head immediately flinched up, hearing the mention of my dad. Jisung seemed to notice, his eyes widening while looking at me.
"He told me there would be a family reunion, and he wants you to come."
I paused for a moment, taking in the sudden information.
"What?" Jisung said, breaking the silence. "He can't do that. He can't leave you, then want you back. He hasn't visited you in years and all of a sudden he wants you to come back? It doesn't work—"
"Jisung, calm down," my mom said. He seemed to be more upset than I was. "Mira, it's your choice. You don't have to go, I will never force you to go."
She smiled once more at me. "I'll go to the bathroom really quick. Then we can go home so you'll relax, I'll even buy you boba or something. Jisung, you can come too if you want."
She left to the bathroom for a while, before Jisung said from across the nurse's room, "Will you go?"
"I don't know," I finally spoke, not wanting to say anymore.
Almost on queue, my mom walked out of the bathroom, rubbing her hands together before saying, "Okay, so let's you two kids out of here." Jisung smiled, probably happy to get out of class. "Oh, and by the way Jisung, I know what you did to my daughter. You better not leave her ever again or I'd be telling your mom of you and your little crush."
Jisung's eyes widened as his ears turned red in embarassment. "Sorry, Mrs. Yun."
"Yeah, you better be sorry. You know my daughter, and you better make it up to her."
I let an awkward laugh, "Mom, can we go now?"
