Chapter 27
Epilogue
Angelica sat on a large boulder stretching her legs in the sun. It had been quite the hike up the trail, but the view had been worth it. She was finding a freedom in life that she hadn't before.
Her children had both become more independent since her incident. Wanting to be less of a burden to her. Though she had to admit that she perhaps enabled them. She had liked that at least someone had needed her for her. It had been a bit of an unhealthy habit that when she had been getting treated, her therapist helped her to break. No longer was she held back by a man who put his own wants, needs, and ambitions before hers. Nor by her need to overcompensate with her grown children. She had a lot more time on her hands to do the things she had always wanted to.
The ringing of the satellite phone broke through her peace. Pulling it out she saw Tyler's number appear on it. She had finally been able to reconnect with her son after some time. Since Angelica had started taking her occasional trips she found Tyler was a bit overprotective. In truth both of her children had been. She hoped they would lighten up a bit soon.
"Hello sweetheart. How are you?"
"Why did it take so long to answer the phone? Are you okay?"
"Relax Tyler, Trent's with her. He is with you right mom?" Angelica could have laughed at the two of them. Instead, she only smiled.
"Of course, he is and so is Cooper." As if saying his name beckoned him, Cooper came rambling out of the brush followed shortly after by an amused Trent. They both headed over to her as the kids argued over the phone at each other. Leaning down Trent pecked Angelica on the cheek before speaking loudly in the direction of the phone.
"Hi guys. She's fine I promise." Pulling away to play with Cooper he left Angelica behind on the rock to finish her conversation.
"Byeguys. I love you both. I'll see you for dinner tomorrow." She hung up after the kids bid her goodbyenow appeased their mother was alright. Getting up she walked over to where Cooper and Trent stood wrapping herarms around him. Angelica snuggled intohis embrace as Cooper lay panting at their feet. Together they watched the sun set over thetrees as another day came to an end. Angelica had been through quite a bit in her life but in the end it wasthe perfect life for her.
