A metaphor in writing compares a concept, feeling, or experience to an unrelated theme, thing, or object. Characteristics common to the two make the metaphor. For example, the "black sheep" stands out from the herd as distinctive and unique, similar to the outcast of a family. Consider the author's use of metaphors in each chapter this week.
