Elain looked at the clock and silently cursed herself for being so disorganised. If she didn't leave very soon, she would be late for the flower show. She stood up and brushed the crumbs off her favourite jeans, the ones Nesta got her for Christmas, and quickly ran to get her keys. Looking out the window as she walked past, she noticed it was overcast, and remembered it was supposed to be cold today. She quickly grabbed her black hoodie from the back of the lounge where she had thrown it next to Az's when she got home yesterday.
She tripped and almost fell as she turned to lock the door, and was quietly grateful that everyone else had already left for the day. She got into her car and drove to the showgrounds, quietly humming along to Always You on the radio.
She pulled up at the grounds and got out of her car. After walking inside to sign in, noting that it was no warmer inside than out, she walked over to where she had dropped off her flowers the day before. Shivering, she unfurled her hoodie.
Except it wasn't hers. She gasped and almost dropped it as she stared in horror at the hoodie, that was not, in fact, hers, but Azriel's.
Now she had a bit of a dilemma on her hands. On the one hand, she felt like she should suffer in the cold for being so careless. On the other hand, she was cold, and she was sure Azriel wouldn't mind her using it, as long as she washed and returned it at the end of the day. Yes, that was what she would do. She would wash it, and then she would leave it on his bed, and go out and get 'sorry' chocolates.
She slipped it on, and felt instantly warmer. Maybe partially because it went down to her knees. She rolled back the sleeves just as she got a text from Feyre.
'Fay-ruh 🎨' ~Hey, Cassian, Nesta, Rhys, and I won't be home tonight, or this afternoon, the boys planned a weekend retreat for us, we're staying for two nights! I think Mor is using it as an excuse to go and stay with her girlfriend for a couple of nights, and you already know that Amren's away on business for the week, so it'll just be you and Az at home. XX~
'Elain 🌸🦉' ~Okay, thanks for letting me know! See you on Sunday. XX~
Elain turned off her phone just as the judge for the 'Best Spring Bouquet' came over to look at her arrangement.
-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-.-
By the end of the day Elain had won three first place ribbons and one second place. She needed to work on her tulip arrangement for next time; needed to remember not to have too many varieties, but not just one or two, either.
She got in her car and turned on the heater, along with the radio. Willow was playing, so she turned it up and sang along.
She was home before she knew it, and parked in the driveway, unable to use the garage because of Cassian's home gym currently occupying it. She took her keys out of the ignition, and almost kicked herself as she remembered that she was meant to get chocolates for Az. She couldn't see his car anywhere, so hopefully he wasn't home yet, and she would have time to wash his hoodie and then go out and get him chocolates before he got back. She got out of the car and walked up to the front door. She opened it, stepped inside and-
"Hey Elain, have you seen m-" Azriel stopped dead as he walked into the front room and saw her.
"Elain..." He dragged her name out. "Is that my hoodie?" He slowly took a step towards her, smirking slightly.
"I can explain!" Elain started, Azriel still slowly getting closer. "You see, I was in a hurry this morning, and your hoodie was right next to mine, and I couldn't tell them apart, and as I rushed out the door I must've just... grabbed the... wrong... h-hoodie." She got quieter with every step he took toward her.
