Part 3// birthday

It was 2 or 3 am and you were lying in the dark Nat lay across your chest sleeping like a baby. Tomorrow was her birthday but she didn't like birthdays so no one else knew apart from Clint who was away on a mission. You had something planned and she was gonna love it you were sure.

The light started to peer through the curtains and nats forehead creased from the brightness.
"Hi" you smiled looking down at her
She lazily smiled back up at you but continued to rest her head into you
"Happy birthday" you whispered smoothing her hair off her face
"Urghhhhh" she moaned

"No more lieing in"
"I've got something planned and we need to leave in the hour"
She looked up at me her forehead creases in confusion

An hour later you were on a plane and she still had no idea what you had planned.
"Please tell me" she husked
"Well then it wouldn't be a surprise would it"
You knew Nat wasn't one to enjoy the unknown but she trusted you and you would tell her before we got off the plane.

An hour or so later you could see her fingers fidgeting and forehead creasing. Checking out every movement or sound.
"Ok, you want to know" you asked resting your hand over hers.
She nodded still looking worried
"Ok so remember our first ever steak out together."
"In hawai yes" she smiled
"What did we do while we were there" I asked
"Well u told me you could surf and taught me how, and then we had to go home because we were at the wrong location all that time"
"Ok one minute" I pointed
She watched as I disappeared behind a sheet into the front of the jet.
I returned a minute later with a white longboard with N/R written on the side in brown lettering
Her face lit up with joy and she strand to her feel and wrapped herself around me.
"I thought we could get away for a few days?"
She smiled admiring the board and nodded. She had taken a liking to surfing and everything I got an opportunity I had a board with me and was teaching her. It had still been a while though.

We sat back down in the seats and I handed her a folder of records of the location to reassure her it was safe.
"The beachouse is mine"
"Nick uses it for a safe house sometimes and that's why I couldn't say"

On our first ever mission together this is where we were sent. Nat had her guard up but you had known this and printed of everything you knew about the place into files to show her she was safe. You surfed and Nat sat on the beach always looking out. She later on told you how she loved watching you surf. How she could see all of my worries disappear.
Later in the night in a moment of weakness you told her you surfed to escape reality . Out there it was just you and the wave and you could control your every move. You realised after you had never shared that with anyone and she smiled and said she had never thought of surfing.
The next morning you got up and said you would tech her. She has balance and picked it up quickly but everytime she dived you were there to drag her head above water again and hold her until she had regained her normal witty self.

To both of you that trip meant a lot. You barley knew each other but already trusted and protected each other like you had known her a lifetime.
It was also the first time you witnessed one of her nightmares. You watched her lay on the sofa forehead creasing and gradually getting sweatier by the second. You went over and sat by her side and whiped her hair of her sticky forehead. She awoke suddenly grabbing at everything but you just held her and slowly felt her relax into you. It was the first time she had be comftered from one of her nightmares.

Making our way down to the beach Natasha was desperate to try out her new board. It was over 2 years ago so you wanted to keep an eye. Waves in Hawaii were vilante and the last thing she needed was a scare. You had your suit on under your dress because you knew where u were going but she ran into the house to change.
You paddled put diving under a wave and letting the lukewarm water con seal you for a second. You reamerged out of the water and continued to paddle out past the breaking point. U sat on your board either side and admired the freedom. Everything. Your fear was gone. You were free. You saw an opportunity and took it. Paddle paddle and hop. You were on your feet topping the nice average wave and feeling the water under you.
The wave started to chase so you ducked down abandoning it to paddle towards Nat who was now changed into her suit.
She waded out to you and flashed you a smile.
"Take it easy ok? It was 2 years ago"
She nodded biting her lip and started to paddle out.
You watched her disappear and re appear from a wave and almost immendiely she caught a wave. Taking slightly longer to stand up.
You were waiting for her to head your way but the wave clipped the back of her board and you were paddeling to her before she even went down. It was a good 20 seconds before you got to her board and dived under glancing at the next wave ready to dive under.
You wrapped your arm under her arm and pulled her up.
You were touching the floor of the sand and could easily sit
You pulled her up to you and whipped the hair out of her spluttering fact. Rubbing her back.
"Hey,it's ok,I got you"
She looked up at you and smiled weakly.
"Dam I thought I fought that one" she chuckled
"You did! Until u face planted the water." I reply laughing
She was ok but u kept hold of her a moment longer
"Right! Let's go" you swung your leg over her longboard and patted infront of you.
"Again?"
"Together, common"
You paddeled out and sat behind the break.
"Ok I've got you ok"
She looks over her shoulder and nods nervously.
"The next one" it was an easy catch and u has Nat with you
You both started paddeling and then you stood up behind Nat then leaning down to grab her arm and pull her up with you
You stood behind her riding it in easily holding ont her waist.
You took a few more rounds together then stayed out of the break for sunset. She sat in front of you and you could see her eves glancing up the beach and towards the house.
"Hey, it's ok it's just us."
You wrap your arms around her waste and she leans her back into you and relaxes as you watch the orange sky turn navy.

It was late when you paddeled in so you got the fire started while she went in to change.
You pulled down your wet suit and pulled over a blue long tshirt and a pair of sports shorts
Moments later Nat reappeared wrapped in a towel and still in her suit.
You pulled her into your body and hugged her tight rubbing her shivering body.
"Nat it's 30 ℃! Your always so colddd!" You giggle into her ear
You sat there just like the first night and fell asleep in each others arms in front of the fire.
