"-but she is one of the good ones."

Lacey Ariane Zabini

SOME SAY THAT KNOWLEDGE IS POWER, but they forget it's a terrible power when it is hoarded and hidden. My eyes wander over the terrain. When being this high in the sky it is easy to see how big the forbidden forest really is. My feet dangle over the edge of the Astronomy tower. The silence gives me more peace than I ever had these past couple of months.

I have spent my whole life terrified. Scared of things that could go wrong. Things that might happen; things that might not happen. But in time I learned fear is my real enemy, so I stopped being scared.

"You should go, Riv. I don't want you to see me like this-" I am standing in the room that they once called the Thunderbird common room. Now it's just a place where we party. "I am not leaving you, Mouse. You clearly need someone to hold you." "I am not who you thought I was, Riven. I need to be alone." "No you don't-" The boy says as he steps closer holding me in his arms.

"Why is it hot in here? No one should be out of bed this time of the night?" "We shouldn't either, Mione. But be quiet otherwise they hear you." I already know who they are, I have been at this school for a few weeks and I heard all about the famous Harry Potter. "Too late-" I state while leaving the spot I was in to lean safely against the wall. "You shouldn't be here-" The boy with the scar on his forehead says. "And neither should you." I casually grab the book I was reading earlier and open it again.

"Do you need anything?"

"Rude-" the red-haired boy mumbles and right after he receives a smack on his shoulder. "Bloody hell, Hermione!"

"You should yell harder, then there will be teachers here within five minutes. I think we can conclude none of us wants that, right?" "She's right-" The girl, Hermione, says. She is the only one I like out of the three of them. There is something about her that makes me think of myself.

I know she's a Gryffindor, but let's be honest, if she wasn't she would have been a Ravenclaw. Just like I would have if the hat didn't choose Slytherin. I finish the page before closing the book.

"What are you doing?" "I think I go back to my common room. Mister Scarface clearly wants to talk about something with you, so I will get out of your way." Hermione Granger tries not to snort when hearing the nickname I came up with. Potter stops me as I arrive at the stairs.

"I can tell you are a good person, Lacey Zabini and you are hanging out with the wrong kind. Don't let them consume you. Don't choose the wrong team."

I laugh out loud silencing him immediately. "I don't side with a team. I am my own team because over the years I learned that's the only one I can trust. Now, I am going to bed, good night."

As I walk downstairs I hear them talking about me. "I don't like her-" "You don't like her because she doesn't listen to you. There is something about her...- I can't place it, but she is one of the good ones."

~

It is chilly in the courtyard. There are students everywhere waiting for their friends to show up. It's a Hogsmeade weekend which means that we have the opportunity to go to the small town next to the school. At Ilvermorny we had that too, only then we apparated to New York City because that small town was really boring.

"Why are you standing here all alone?" I recognise the dark brown locks from the boy I met on the train. "I was enjoying the silence, you so blunt interrupted," I state while scanning the features of the boy. "Enjoying the view?" "Clearly-" A smile appears on my mouth when seeing the look on his face.

"So the boys are going to Hogsmeade as well?"

"Clearly," he says while grinning. He sits down next to me and together we laugh when we see younger students stumble outside. They are not allowed to go to Hogsmeade. After about 5 or 10 minutes the girls arrive and only shortly after the boys join us as well.

"Theodore Nott I dare you to try and go after my sister, I will destroy you." Blaise starts way too overprotective, making Athena, Pansy, Daphne and me laugh. "Calm the fuck down, Blaise. What if I decide to go after one of your friends, huh?"

"Let's go boys-" He says dodging the subject as he starts walking away from us.

When they are no longer in our sight Athena turns to me. "You are crazy." "I heard that before," I say with a laugh before hooking my arm through Pansy's and hers. Daphne does the same on Pansy's other side. "Let's have some fun."

Hours later we are sitting in the Three Broomsticks. There are students everywhere and everyone is chatting with their friends. "I am just wondering, is there really something between you and Theo or just harmless flirting?" Pansy asks with a small grin.

"We may have made out a couple of times, but that's it. So yea, harmless flirting." "You flirt with every guy-" Daphne states while bringing the butterbeer to her lips to take a sip. "That's not true, I-"

"Hey, I was just wondering if you guys want anything else to drink?" I glance up to the waiter who was helping us earlier as well. "If it's not too much to ask, I would like to have another butterbeer, girls?" "Same for me," Athena and Pansy answer at the same time. Daphne signs that she's had enough.

"It's my job, isn't it?" I lick my lips with a smile. "How could I forget, of course, I am sorry." "No worry-" he laughs while writing down our order. "It was a pleasure serving you...-" "Lacey, it's Lacey." "-Lacey," a grin dances around his mouth and around mine as he spins around and steps back to the bar.

The girls just gaze at me, all smirking. "Do you want us to say it?" "No, shut up," I laugh before finishing my butterbeer.
