Jungkook's povThere are special glasses not everyone affords that can make you see the polychrome world. People with jobs get to use them for free while working until their shift ends.
My father lets me have a look sometimes when he works from home. But it doesn't feel right. The colors I'm able to see when that person looks at me are lighter. I actually feel alive when I see those.
But with these glasses, the colors feel plain and just...there. My dad described it the same. He told me that when my mom looks at him he feels like he could run miles but that the glasses just make him want to take them off. The glasses give you a fake polychromatic world.
I'd rather have my soulmate look at me.
If only I knew who that is.Taehyung's pov
My apartment is as empty as ever. My mother works abroad. At least she checks on me once every two days. That's good enough.
It's close to the high school I go to, so I'm happy with it. I locked the door and went on my way.
A few feet away from the school gate someone tripped and made me fall over them too. I managed to get on my elbows and under me was... Jungkook!
He was looking at me with wide eyes and I got to see the exact color of his eyes, his hair. But I didn't want to stare or make a fool of myself. I quickly looked away and got up, and offered him my hand to help him get up too.
He stood there and stared at me for a few seconds then grabbed my hand and stood up. I was looking at the road all this time, avoiding looking at him, to not make him suspicious.
"I'm so sorry! Taehyung right?" hearing him say my name made me turn to him in surprise. But of course he knows my name. We have almost all our classes together.
"Oh uh yeah. No worries. Are you okay?" I asked, looking away again. The colors were there. He was staring at me.
Look away! Look away!"Ah, I splashed coffee on your pants. I'm so sorry! I'll make it up somehow! How can I make it up?" Jungkook asked, worried. I didn't even notice my pants.
I looked down and saw the stains. I have to go back home and change. Now I might be late to my first class. There's nothing to do, anyway.
"It's alright! I'll just go home and change. It's very close to the school." I waved my hand at him.
"Classes start in a few minutes. Won't you be late?"
"It's really okay. I will make up an excuse for being late. I have English first, so the teacher might take it easy on me."
"I'm coming with you. If you're late because of me, I will be late too. Lead the way!" he said and I couldn't stand not looking at him anymore. I bit my lip and looked at him.
We'll be alone if he comes to my house. And if I look at him there, he's definitely going to find out. But he doesn't know that I know about me being his soulmate. I'll pretend everything is normal.
I smiled at him, like I sometimes did in secret, and said a small "Fine."
