hi y'all! I know I literally tell you guys way too much but I know I love reading funfacts about the process of writing and such and i wanted to add that in here. so some of these might be things you already, some might be stuff you inferred, others are canon things that didn't make it into the book, and then there's a few scattered things about my life lol

1. Nova was originally going to be an inflictor

Basically I wanted her to have an outward ability where she could hurt people, because I knew that having the ability to hurt people was going to be something she worried about. Obviously the first thing that came to mind when it had to be hurting people was inflicting. But honestly I didn't want to write a Sophie 2.0 and so I decided to look more into other abilities that Sophie didn't have, and actually started the book in mind that Nova would be a mesmer. Then the scene played out and I realized that she was actually a pyrokinetic.

2. I literally had no idea where this book was going to end up when I started.

I had a basic outline. I knew I wanted Nova and Eamon to be enemies to friends to lovers. (My personal favorite trope haha). When Nova became a pyrokinetic, I knew immediately one of her parents would be. I went back and forth but settled on her dad because her mom is such a big personality I thought it would be cool to give her dad a lil part. Other than these things, nothing else was really planned I just kinda let it flow lol.

3. Ashla and Lyra end up together

This is canon, no arguments. The book was coming to an end and I couldn't fit another storyline in and since Ashla was so new I didn't have the time to introduce this. So, surprise, y'all I'm DEFINITELY going to be writing at least one bonus chapter based on them because they're so cute when you get to know them :) I tried to tease it a little that time where they were all having lunch and Ashla and Lyra came in together, that's kinda where it starts so one of the bonus things will be at that exact scene. I know I said I wouldn't do a sequel but I am open to a spin-off for these characters.

4. There was a point in time when I planned to give up and not complete the book

I pretended like I was just going through author's block (which I was) but in all honesty this book was on backburner from October 2019-January 2020 and at one point I did not plan to come back. I just remember lots of school stuff going on in that timeframe and it took a lot after Legacy for me to feel comfortable writing again.

But eventually I came to my senses, knocked that off, and now the book is complete so yay me!

5. When I started writing this book I was a senior in high school and now I'm a sophomore in college

This is definitely not a secret and y'all know this but like,,, I don't think y'all have realized the big change this was. I am literally a completely different person than I was in high school. I barely remember what I was doing then and quite honestly there was a lot of stuff I went through I don't know how i would face it now. I was friends with people who pretended to like me and was part of clubs where everyone else in that club actively talked about me behind my back and I went home every night and just watched youtube videos until i fell asleep and then woke up at 5am the next day and repeated. i quite literally could not do that stuff now. i was in class and got an answer wrong and logged off the zoom because i got embarrassed today lol I've changed so much. It's crazy to go back and read through old author's notes and see where i was at those times. i hadn't even applied for college yet when the first chapter dropped.

6. Eamon mostly does the washing people's minds portion of telepathy because he's scared of not being as good at telepathy as his mom

Of his siblings Eamon is the only telepath and obviously telepathy is Sophie's big gig and the ability that she embraces and utilizes the most, and she's the most powerful telepath pretty much ever. Eamon grew up being aware of this and was afraid of a constant comparison to his mom so he asked his mentor to do more of the washing-part of telepathy because Sophie doesn't do that and she probably wouldn't so there's no way for people to compare him to her, and so he gets to be the best at what he does like his mom and his siblings. Another huge factor for this is the fact he's the youngest and y'all know what they say about how with each child they get less and less powerful. Doing something completely different makes it so it's hard to say whether they really do get less and less powerful in their family's case.
