you laughed gently at her,getting ready to sing the next part to her, ''only fools rush in!'' you yell back dragging out each word
kalynn grabbed your hands,pulling you up to sway with her before singing to you again.
''ohhh but i cant help falling in love with you." she sang as she looked you in the eyes,making you pause for a moment - and it felt like the world did too
as if doctor strange himself had slowed down the clock as kalynn danced slowly around you.you were stuck wondering if your bestfriend could have been serious or just singing the song.every fiber of your being was praying the ladder was a lie,but you forcefully brushed it off and continued to sing with her.
as the song came to an end,kalynn ran over to her record player to put in a new vinyl before your own reflexes betrayed your mind,grabbing her arm.
forcefully swallowing up every single ounce of fear and pride you have you spoke,
''kalynn,'' you paused for a beat ''are you just singing those words with me,or singing them to me" you asked kind of feeling dumb,feeling embarrassed.the silence in the room felt deafening,despite her head never having been louder
"a mix of both'' kalynn said finally,taking her arm from your grasp
"what?" you asked in a cliche shocked voice
"i'm in love with you,and i was singing the words" kalynn said smiling,once again turning to change the vinyl,before deciding to replay the last one
you couldn't help but choke out a smile as kalynn grabbed her hand turning the volume up once more and running back to the middle of her bedroom.
she pulled you into a hug swaying her with the small thump of the instrumental
''i love you too kay" was said lightly,smiling as kalynn smiled at her before pressing a kiss to her head
the heavens may hold elvis - but elvis still holds the heart of two dumbstruck teenagers
